Got my prius checked out after it crossed 40,000kms. Got its throttle body cleaned, plugs cleaned and checked, new fuel filter and oil changed. But now im only getting 18 kmpl which is pretty low comparing with the specs on this thread. Any tips to improve the fuel consumption? The weathers pretty good nowadays and i think it should give me around 22+ kmpl. I cant imagine what kind of average will it give me during the summers when the ac is on.

Hybrid cars give better average in summers because batteries perform at their best in summer (Temp)

I got mine tuned and throttle body cleaned a month ago and noticed the same i.e. reduction in fuel efficiency. Got worried so did some research and made some observations. According to my understanding the major reason for this is that while doing the engine tune up, they disconnect the batteries and this event is recorded in your cars CPU. When ever the batteries are disconnected and reconnected the hybrid system will switch to petrol more often for the next 1000 KM or so. The reason for this built in functionality is to optimally recharge the hybrid batteries again. This is some thing similar to long charge requirement when you first charge your new mobiles batteries.
My Prius was doing 18.5 KMPL for the first 1000 KM since I got it tuned, but the fuel consumption is getting better and after 1200 KM its reached 20.5.
The other reason for high fuel consumption is the winter season. as we tend you use the heating, which means more run time of the petrol engine to produce heat for the heating system.

I would suggest that you drive it for at least 1200 KM, and if the consumption doesn't improve get the plug pin gap known as the air gap re adjusted- As the wear caused over time can cause the air gap in the plug to increase, which can cause a loss in vehicle fuel efficiency and even misfiring in extreme cases.Also consider getting the throttle body re-adjusted.

Bro high octane must be used in some ratio as i used it and economy went up to 23km/l with same habbit pattern of driving in which i was getting 21.5

Can anyone explain the difference between a Japanese import and GB import? What are the main differences and which one should be preferred to buy... heard english model has no language issue and cruise control has no limit whereas, Japanese one has a cruise limit of 115km/hr.

I've read that UK imports have smaller radiators and Yes, the language is in English. But, resale is of the jappy cars.
I think JDM cars don't have a cruise control limit, but speedo is limited to 180kmph so that kills the fun of owning high end jappy cars:)

Tbh, I've noticed that the most people who work or live in UK, they just bring their car with them. Seen many 2010 uk plates Priuses even in Toba Tek Singh lol.

I recently sold my father's Honda City to upgrade to Honda Insight... After a market survey and people's suggestions, we decided to look for a prius.

Now, in Islamabad a 70k driven not so option-full car (2nd Gen) was in the price bracket of 19 to 19.75 lakh which was ridiculous. My dad was angryat the same time as he was not willing to sell the car at the time because of the complications we might have to face in buying a used car.

Anyway, my father went on a tour to Multan where he met a colleague who had recently purchased a 3rd Gen Prius (Probably S). My dad had the opportunity to drive and examine the car for the first time and he fell in love with it. Next think I know he calls me up to say that he wants to get the 3 rd Gen.

After doing some research online and a market survey I have found that a good Prius (G) with cruise, and led lights will cost about 26 lakh.

Is the price quoted accurate?

We are willing to travel to Lahore for an original car with auction sheet.

Anyone can help me here as I seriously can't wait for a Prius in the family..

Waiting anxiously for the response of this wonderful club...

Confirm/verify the auction sheet. Also look for mileage in "EXPORT CERTIFICATE". It will all be in Japanese but the mileage will be in regular digits. I am forgetting right now whether the mileage in "EXPORT CERTIFICATE" is of last inspection performed by the Japan Transportation Authority (happens every 3 years in Japan?) or at the time of export but still, you will have an idea if the meter was reversed.
