If you buy a graded import then just oil change etc, routine maintenance. But if you go for the showroom stock then the car will stay more with mechanics than with you. And Prius is better than Altis and Civic that I can guarantee you.

brother I did all sorts of research on Prius humanly possible before buying it. my friend has it since 2012 and is quite happy with it.
please elaborate what do you mean by maintenance cost.
as for the battery, if the car is non-accidental, many Prii have been tested and even after 400,000 km the battery pack does not give problems.

I have even come across people who sold their 9th Gen Civics to buy Prius, whenever I am standing at a fuel station or in the F-10 car accessories block, if a Civic is parked close, rarely has it happened that the person does not come, see my car and inquire about it.

You mean that if I take to a mechanic and say that "Hey man, my car's hybrid battery ain't workin'! fix it up will ya" and he'll say take it to a Toyota Dealership. So that clearly means you save on fuel economy but the maintenance cost is surely going to kill you!

If you buy a graded vehicle, you won't need to worry about any such issue.

Grades are awarded according to the physical and mechanical condition.
Engine is also awarded a grade so is the interior and any problems are listed on the left of the auction sheet.

So far I have only seen exterior and interior condition being graded.

Btw- how does a common man like me translate any comments that they write in sushi language I.e ' it runs bad, doesn't start etc. '?

brother engine is also given a grade and problems are listed in left lower column of the auction sheet.
i bought my car through @sharabhi a.k.a Shahzaib Rasheed, whenever any such message popped up in the initial days primarily because of oil change warning and putting the car in P gear, the message that showed up in Japanese language, i simply took a pic and sent it to him and got the answer in a few hours.

My uncles friend bought a 2004 prius- Yes, I ain't kidding. It's hybrid battery is messed up, I do not know which Juggaar they use to start it up in the morning. He got it for cheap though.

What usually happens in Pakistan and world wide too- Drive the car like a maniac, once a few problems pop up and you know there are some major ones, spend a few bucks on it <20,000-/ and sell it off by lying your face off and saying Qasmay, headache transferred to next owner.

I could buy a Prius 3rd gen, drive it around for a year or so, keep the savings, then sell it off, once I realize that the hybrid battery is messing up, fill with some Hi-octane to give it a zero meter feel and voila.

Simple.

Any such issues that arise are not in the whole battery pack, but instead in some of the various cells inside the battery. They aren't that expensive either.

Yes it is very much possible provided that it is handled by some literate person, mech engineer for instance who has worked on cars.
