Toyota vitz 2008 1.0 driven 150k engine tends to get overheated when driven with AC within city with random stops on signals, only with AC. Radiator cleaned and filled with Toyota coolant, AC service is done and engine oil also changed. Problem is persistent ; mechanic checked and said engine is about to be dead and that is causing all these heating issues. Whereas so far no red light has blinked nor mobil oil is reducing or burning. Any suggestion?
Only with AC means that radiator autofan does not turn on while AC is on. Get the auto fan checked. Also there is an AC control module under the dashboard on driving side near gear lever. Take it out and install it back after 5 minutes. That shall reset everything related to AC.
goto aircon shop ask the guy to test compressor., and check for any pressure leaks.
without compression test only brain less blind idiots with blocked rectum can declare an engine weak.
@rajaatta any suggestion? Also went to air-conditioner mechanic and he said pressure is fine and not putting extra load on engine. What else to do? At slow speed AC keep tripping with noises like tik tik with significant decreased cooling. Last day drove barely 7 km within city with AC and suddenly acceleration pedal started not responding to extent I pressed till I had to turned off ac immediately. Now tomorrow I will do AC reset as advised and also to check fan clutch for radiator
Ok. How do you feel that engine is overheating if there is no sign in dash board?
2nd does engine stop responding to throttle commands only on AC with in city drive or it behaves same on highways too.
Please also state your location thanks.
@rajaatta thank you for your kind response! Outside temperature was 46c and on highway ac was working fine and car too. I stopped car near some shop to get stuff and it took barely 15 minutes as car was stopped while ac was on. Break pedal became so hard and ac was not functioning rather blowing inside warmer air,i switched off car and then started again while ac kept off but car was running okay.. Not perfect as it was before.. Second instance was more troublesome when I drove 90 km on highway with AC on and it was again running smoothly, I reached home and parked for an hour, started again to reach some place within city traffic in streets with slow speed and ac was on.. Car throttle was not responsive and I could feel there was no power in engine and again ac was tripping badly. Yet so far no red light but engine was smoking hot when bonnet was opened. Today one mechanic after check up finally pass his verdict as head gasket is weak and that is the core issue.
Multan city notorious for warmer climate
No its a normal issue as the refrigerator was not getting colled at condenser unit when vehicle was idling. That's normal but after that if the AC was nt working well you should visit the AC technician for troubleshooting why the AC is damping so much load on engine. Throttle response decreases when the AC system has some malfunctions. Clear out the malfunctions and the throttle response would be perfect again.
Ok I try this and let you know about it. Thanks once again
Respected member of the forum Assalamualaikum..
My brother owns a vitz 2005 2nd generation 1000cc. Last year in January 2019 swapped engine And mounted 2sz 3ngine along with assembly wiring etc but transmission kept the same of 1kr. The drive after swapping was fantastic.. last year in June going on to Peshawar from Islamabad on motorway the transmission was overheated... On reaching Peshawar transmission fluid of Toyota tin pack were replaced. Car was fine till today...today again on the same route towards Peshawar the car driving was good but when put on AC transmission overheated. Then on throwing some water on transmission and switched off the vehicle for almost 20 minutes. Then again started the vehicle and without AC completed the rest of the journey. Almost 15k km used the car on replacing the gear oil. kindly suggest what I suppose to do.
how you know transmission was overheated? did it throw any code with check engine light?
get the vehicle scanned. any change in drive before & after heat up.
it seems transmission cooling lines are not connected to the radiator bottom. Apparently it appears the CVT Torque converter is coming to end of life due to overheated (cooked) transmission oil.
@babarhyd @syncview @rajaatta
Check engine light and the transmission was not shifting gears. Parked the car switched off engine and thrown water on transmission to cool down.
Yes scanned the vehicle by electrician and this code appeared
Check the connectors to CVT.
