I am kind of person that doesn't drive above 120 on motorway and sunroof i haven't opened in last 1 year i drove vitz today the soundproofing and overall feel of car inside city felt better to me.

well brother its not about what speed it reaches its about how.If you intend to sell the car after an year or two then more power to you .
If your concerned abt potholes then grande is better
vitz is good for inter city driving

go for vitz. I have corolla 1.3 as well which is famous for comfort but believe me i no more like that after driving vitz. It is very comfortable ma sha Allah

My suggestion 5w-30, or at max. 10w-30 only.

These both do not make much difference, still, 5w-30 is better, provided engine health is excellent, and you are not facing any oil consumption issues.

10w-30: Caltex / Havoline only!

These both are value to money engine oil brands, in their respective leagues and grades.

Toyota itself says to switch back to 0w20 as soon as possible if you somehow pour 5w30 in the engine.

These small engine with tight clearances work best at 0w20. There's no logical reason to go for 5w30 that too in 1kr-fe. 0w20 is used in hot deserts of Arizona as well as Aus and everywhere else in the world.

Shell full synthetic 0w20 is a great oil in PAK, so is Valvoline and lastly I'd go with Total as I didn't have as good experience as Shell and Valvoline, but it's still decent enough.

Of course I do recommend 5w-30, and will keep on recommending 5w-30, even 10w-30, depending on the make, model, model year, odometer reading, and many other different factors, etc. of the vehicle, and not follow the manual alone, and will not blindly suggest the current owner to switch to 0w-20.

I will never want to cause harm to anybody's car's engine, and that, after my suggestion, the situation worsens.

Totally agreed, and I fully endorse it, but it may apply where such practice has been done, once, twice, even thrice, etc. and not where a particular vehicle has been driven on 10w-xx or even 20w-xx engine oils for many years.

If you could have seen in many of my other posts, I have also been recommending 0w-20 too, but based on the car's engine, make, model, odo-reading, etc.

Usually here, every engine oil change shop has its own science, story, philosophy, ustaadi, etc. which an ordinary customer is not aware of. These shops usually pour in 10w-xx or 20w-xx engine oils, irrespective of make, model, model year, JDM VS PKDM etc.

If the current owner is unaware of any of past history of engine oil being poured, OR, if a particular vehicle has been driven on 10w-xx or 20w-xx engine oils for many years, let's say 6-7 years, and we suggest him to switch to 0w-20 immediately. By book, its 100% correct and I totally agree, but the moment he pours in 0w-20 and many things go wrong, like; there is excessive engine oil consumption, smoke from the exhaust, etc. then who is going to take the responsibility?

Wo baichaara apna sir pakar k baith jye ga, k pehlay beshakk mota tail tha, but my car was working fine, and now, after switching to 0w-20 as per suggestions from us, the experts, and as per owners manual, issues have started.

It was a very simple and straightforward question, that if upon our suggestions, a person switches to thin and company recommended engine oil grades (when vehicle had been long driven on thick oils) and issues start, like excessive oil consumption, smoke from the exhaust, etc. then who would be responsible?

I have owned Passo with 1KR-FE, and trust me, it works absolutely fine on even 5w-20 and 5w-30. I am saying it based on my personal experience. Till 5w-30, there is no drop in pick, power, fuel efficiency, etc. (provided cat. Conv. is not choked. If its choked, then car will misbehave on even 0w-20)

See, this is what I disagree with and Toyota has never said this either.

So, instead of creating our own logics, which our local ustaads love to do -- use gaaarha taill if car is above 100k km or if it's already used on 10w or 20w... it is better to just listen to Toyota.

I don't think this needs to be made more complicated. Car will run even at 20w50 and 5w50. Just fine. But it's not great in the long term. Though yes it's extremely unlikely that 5w30 will cause any damage in the long term, it is only slightly thicker than 0w20...

You are right. Of course it may not make sense, as these were said in 02 altogether different posts with different backgrounds, still, you compared them side by side.

One is is in general context, and may apply in all fields of life. 2nd is in particular context. The posts are self-explanatory, and in different contexts. You know it, I know it, but don't know why you compared them both?

Definitely YES. Toyota never said it, and Toyota will never say, because it provides owners / users manual with each and every car to its owner, and assumes that owners will follow it, and if they deviate once, twice, etc. they will revert back as per owners manual's recommendations.

Please give me some official statement by Toyota, or some link to it, or any such statement which says that despite the vehicle has been driven on 6-7, or even more years, on 10w-xx or 20w-xx engine oils, the moment you realize it, switch to the recommended engine oil grade as per owners manual ASAP, and we guarantee that nothing bad will happen!

Please provide me with such an official statement; main aapko Guru ma'an lo'on ga, and will take down all of my posts regarding thick oils recommendations based on engine's condition.

Agreed, but this logic does not apply here in particular case of this member, whose Vitz is 2013 model and 96,000 Kms on odo (I am reiterating again and again, but you are not coming towards it, either intentionally, or I am not able to make it easy to understand).

The vehicle has 96,000 Kms on odometer, and I am 100% sure that the reading is incorrect and tempered with. It is at least 1-1.4 lac Kms. I did not suggest him 10w-40 or 20w-xx. As per my judgement, 10w-30 and 5w-30 seem fine, and you are recommending him 0w-20.
