AoA all, petrol prices 283, mattern of concern.

-Car: Vitz 3rd gen 2014/18

-Today I tested fuel average by tank full method

-From company operated PSO (Same booth same nozzle)

-My daily journey 72km (city+highway mixed, mostly highway).

• Light foot, speed not exeeding 80kmph, mostly ECO mode.

-With AC cooling at #3.

-It came out to be 6L.

-Calculated 12kmpl. Not good.

-Though done recent tuning, engine oil 0w-20 Aisin, spark plugs toyota genuine OEM. Odo 61000km. Tyre pressure 32+

• Why is there a huge difference in cars meter avg and full tank method average???

Where are the people having 18-22kmpl in their vitz? I am sure they are getting it on the meter, with aftermarket 02 sensors.

18-22 is something I’ve never seen but my meter avg of 11-13 is pretty close to my calculated avg. This is in Karachi with AC. No highway driving but two drivers, I’m laid back and my driver not so careful with his foot.
When I’m the only driver on a tank, then it can creep up to 13-14 too.

Yeah 13-14 makes sense, i don't know why people posting in PWFs their cars avg as 18-22.

So my calculations on full tank method is close to accurate. Why is there a big difference in meter avg vs full tank avg? Something wrong with the sensors?

That sounds like fine average.

People posting 18-20km/L either don’t know how to take average or they intentionally don’t calculate it properly.

If you drive on straight path for 20km without any braking and speed at 80 then it will definitely show even above 18km/L.

But if one’s drive is usual Pakistani city traffic, lots of braking n congestion, AC on all the time, and averaged over a good amount like at least 400 to 500km. Then Vitz won’t have above 12-14 average in practice.

BTW i was digging up topics on MAF sensor, found out that its value on idle for a 1.0 L engine should not exceed 1g/sec. However, my car's MAF value turns out to be 77g/sec.

Only clean if you are getting an issue. Check its value at idle, it should approximately give 1 gram/sec for 1 litre engine. For example my 1.3 L corolla engine gives around 1.4 gram/sec and i have no driveability issues. This is with no AC or other electrical.load. Also its value shall respond quickly according to throttle. Clean it with MAF cleaner and let it dry. All other cleaners can leave a residue and can permanently damage it. MAF cleaners do not leave any residue on MAF element serv…

My ex-Vitz 2nd Gen with 2SZ swap got me a round trip of 735 km (Lahore-Multan-Lahore) in one tank on Multan Road. In city it used to give around13.5-14 km/l with light foot.

1) they probably drive in dha bahria town like areas
2) they drive in Islamabad
3) they dont get stuck in traffic somehow most days

My current 2SZ FE Vitz 2nd Gen give 13.5 KMPL in city drive (isb) AL HAMD U LILLAH Consistently.

Calculated through tank fill up method accurately.

I am doing a mini project on my Vitz for eliminating as much rattling as possible.

I am not "sound deadening" the car I am just making micro modification, adjustments and maybe add some foam material if necessary (like in case of panel rattle caused by two panels touching)

Some of the fixes are addressing common issues across all generations and maybe one or two can be unique to my car

The basics

I applied a vinyl/rubber dressing on weatherstripping of all 5 doors. Eliminates mini squeaks

The noise is caused by tubbing door when car is in motion. Most noticeable on roads with quick short elevations changes like speed breaker or garage ramp. Drying strip can cause this. Unfortunately happens with new cars or barley old cars too (1-2 y old)

U can use any dressing like STP formula 1 etc but they dry every 1-2 months they do work nice. If u want longevity you should spend more and use something from Maguire's Carpro Mother's or Sonax
