He is right and I have learned the same lesson after keeping silver cars for 10 years.
Although it's one of the best colors grace wise and it's easiest color to maintain but matching it is one hell of a job which 99.9% people including dealerships fail to do so. And even if someone passes that test, the low quality lacquer compared to the original one starts to get yellow after some time. Even a 10 year kid can tell which part is painted on a silver car.
On the other hand white is the best color when it comes to matching paint and maintaining it but it looses its grace after couple of years and no wax can bring it back
On the other hand black is also easy to match and looks awesome if maintained properly but it's one of the hardest colors to maintain and a continuous pain in the a$$. Even a slightest of touch with fingers will result in blemishes on the paint
I kept silvers, white and black
Last month I got yaris in black and someone damaged my bumper last night while my car is only 600 kms driven. Called the dealership and they said since it's black we can do a patch on effected area only
So every color has some pros and cons
Considering the traffic condition in big cities Lahore Karachi etc, where people are driving rash and especially bikes and rickshawa are a big pain in the ass for people living in conjusted areas picking right color is imp as you know that your car will be damaged sooner or later even if it's not your fault. Like in my case the car was parked and some one hit it from behind
