I am driving Yaris 1.3 Ativ CVT for a month now, drove it on motorway @ 120 - 140. I looked for any noises but didn't notice any. The engine does get louder if gas pedal is pressed hard otherwise it can go to 120 gradually with almost no sound. I haven't changed stock tyres yet but I think changing them will further increase the quality of ride.

IMC is selling 1000s of units every month, I do agree some units will have QC issues (which is annoying for a new car).

I own Honda City 5th Gen and Corolla 1.3 2017. I can compare Yaris with them, the ride and build quality is far better than City and somewhat comparable to Corolla.

I can do a round trip to from Lahore to Islamabad in one day on Corolla but for Yaris and City I'll have to think twice

Guys , any of you noticed the drag-down lag in low speed in cvt. like you have to keep a slight peddle to remain going. the follow through in higher speed is okay but its looks like a drag or stoppage when the speed are slow??

I would say yes if you mean that when u push the pedal and then let it go, the car immediately loses inertia almost like engine braking when u shift from higher gear to a lower one. Does not carry the momentum.

Yes...exactly. is it to do with cvt tuning for low gear or something??

I have learnt a few things. Now i keep it in eco mode which gives nice fuel average. In low gears yes there is lag but if you require quick response just floor the pedal, ECO mode will turn off and you will get instant power. Once you reach desired speed slightly release pressure on gas pedal ECO mode will turn on again. This method is giving me adequate pick and decent average.

Well i have both 2017 GLI auto and Yaris ativ x and yaris seats are way comfortable then corolla. I have done 3 one day trips from lahore to islamabad and back to lahore, i didnt suffer backache which i normally feel after driving corolla for more than 3-4 hours

+1 on that... I too have both Yaris 1.5 Ativ X and GLI automatic 2014 model. The comfort of Yaris is by no means less than GLI if not better. Drive is also better and more enjoyable and very much economic. The only problem is if you want to have three adults in the back seat. The center one will feel little bit uncomfortable... Otherwise I am satisfied with my decision to go for Yaris.

I am using the exact same procedure in Normal and ECO mode. That is just take my foot off the pedal(when desired speed is reached) and then press very lightly. This way speed is maintained and RPM stays low...

Every new car has some sort of issues so is the yaris. I'm driving Gli MT and have done 5000 km on it. Alhamdulilah, I haven't found major issues which made me regret my decision. Moreover I'm getting very good fuel economy figures within city as well as on motorway. Seats are very comfortable so is the suspension. I sat in new city, its seats are nowhere near ysris' in terms of comfort. Owners who are facing issues I wish them best of luck.

Lol why are you comparing a 1.5 Yaris, low body weight with a 1.3 GLI much higher weight? Gli is already slow n underpowered.

Why not compare with the right competition 1.6 Altis. It smokes Yaris in every department. Drive difference will be immense too.

I have a yaris 1.3 ativ and civic X (2018). Trust me, yaris seats are way ahead. kasamay.

Sorry but I don't own a 1.6, neither have I driven one so can't compare them....
Definitely it will be more comfortable as it has a heavier body and it is in a class above (but it costs 4lacs more).
But I definitely can't accept that it has better or comparable fuel average. My two friends who own 1.6 Altis Automatic tell me the average in daily city/office travelling is 10-11 km/l. While I get about 13-14 in city driving with my Yaris 1.5.
While probably on highways/motorways the average difference might not be as huge but still Yaris should outshine 1.6. Last weekend I went to Sialkot and my average was 17.8 km/l from Wazirabad to Islamabad. Calculated by ECU as well as tank full method.
Lookwise and bodywise definitely Altis 1.6 all the way.
Also I don't think Altis will be better drive wise as it has the same 4 speed ECT that was in GLI while Yaris has CVT transmission.

I think I need to give Yaris a shot for Islamabad. I did a one day round trip to Sialkot once and didn't feel tired.

Or probably I am overwhelmed with driving a Corolla for 4 years VS a month with Yaris.

It happens in ECO mode. Doesn't happen with normal drive mode.

Agreed. This is a big problem with Yaris Ativ 1.5 CVT, despite being top of the line has no driver seat height adjustment. Is there any solution?
