OK so here is my take after taking delivery of yaris gli cvt today. It might be too early to review but still thought of sharing it here. Please note that I am someone who kept swinging between yaris city Altis 1.6 back n forth for months before going with yaris. And even till the delivery time I wasn't sure how to react while going to take delivery as I heard so much negative about the car. And I am someone who has driven gli 1.6 auto 2011, Honda city 1. 3 manual 2013, Honda city 1.3 2015 auto, gli 2017 manual
Here is my feedback
- the car isn't as ugly as it looks in the images
- yes it is smaller compared to previous gli's and especially if you are someone who bought it while driving the one (as in my case) you will suddenly feel the difference. So if you are someone who prefers size over other things then this car is a big no
- drive is smooth and engine is not as noisy as many here were saying
- pick is also not that bad, it is somewhat similar to manual gli (discontinued version)
- location of gear is odd though and also it looks quite small similar to maybe Cultus one
- drive is smooth
- suspension is as always like all corollas smooth
- steering seems bit hard compare to previous gli, previous one had like "Malai" but it's somewhat in line with city
- height doesn't seem as odd as in pictures
- front visibility isn't as good as gli 2011 but almost similar if not worst than 2017 gli
- comfortable seating for front passenger and driver
- definitely better in drive compared too city ( bit early to say though but for a person who is driving for past 14 years. I think it's not difficult to decide)
- seats are softer, comfortable and way better than city and at par with previous gli
Overall it isn't as bad as people made it look like especially in black color its looks relatively better because the front bumpers get megred with the overall color and car looks bit bigger too in black
