PakWheels enjoys the trust of the members, and there are substantial number of visits to this site for making it feasible as an e-commerce website. We can follow the model of Ebay or Amazon. Classifieds are already there on PakWheels, but since the mechanism for payment and credit rating is absent, it is not successful so far.
The used car classifieds also have this flaw.
Paypal is not yet operational in Pakistan, and that is the reason potential customers are unable to purchase from Ebay. According to net resources, there are some issues faced by paypal in pakistan due to which it has not become operational.
Purchase through credit card has many stigmas attached to it. I have credit cards for more than a decade now, but I have not used them on the internet. I registered my credit card on Ebay, but next day I received phone call from my bank regarding some charges ... I had not purchased anything, yet somehow, somebody got hold of my credit card number and charged a minor amount ..
I think a good option is direct bank transfer. I have purchased couple of items from a seller on PakWheels based in Karachi. Same way, I have purchased some items from a Lahore based online shop and another one in Karachi. I did not face any frauds ... but yet it is important to have some kind of protection cover for the buyers. Same goes for protection for buyers.
There is another possibility for PakWheels ... it can start something like You Pick, We Buy! - Buy anything from eBay in Pakistan while doing Online Shopping in Pakistan to facilitate purchasing by members of PakWheels ... However, I would not recommend You Pick, We Buy! - Buy anything from eBay in Pakistan while doing Online Shopping in Pakistan to members of PakWheels because of very high service charges.
I think PakWheels has the potential to become Ebay of Pakistan ...
