The tunnel is on the mian road going from Gilgit north of the river towards the KKH. Before the tunnel you have to cross a suspension bridge too. The new universities are also located in Gilgit north of the river.
The other picture is of a bridge made to clear the road of constantly falling rocks and boulders. I think it is 10-20kms ahead of Sost and before Dehi. I feel we need to build more of these because I have damaged many tires due to these rocks.

the suspension bridge is a link between gilgit town and danyor. It is one master piece of engineering. though old but has survived the time so far. First time i travelled on this combo was way back in 83 and then regularly every second year. the bridge rocks up and down and side ways when u r on it and then enters into a tunnel which then turns sharply to right. With bigger cars u have to be a good driver to negotiate the turn inside the tunnel. but nevertheless it is one heck of an experience and shouldnt be missed if someone is in that part of the world.
Zabardast pics..Just wanna know though..How r the weather conditions towards skardu and gilgit??,Coz so far the news from naran and beyond are not encouraging,so was planning to try skardu and gilgit this year.want you advice in this regard.

this region includes only superlatives.... where ever u see are the most beautifull mountains, fiercest rivers, biggest glaciers, longest torrants and the man made wonder, KKH.... the marvel of engineering...
