@nomi700 - brother i saw the the way to rohtas fort on google map. it shows that a road called 'rohtas fort road' starts from GT road after jhelum and ends at the fort. what i want to know is if there is a sign board showing direction to this road on the GT road? i mean is there a sign on GT road saying to 'take the next turn for rohtas fort' or something like that ?

Thanks to brother nomi700 for this thread. I went yesterday to Rohtas Fort and Mangla dam. Rohtas fort is a very good place and must see for everyone. It is a great place to go with family. Excellent place I loved it. But if you are not into forts then maybe you wont enjoy it that much as happened with the other family that we came with. Unfortunately I couldnt visit mangla dam as some VIP from Army was there.Anyways I would like to add few things for the benefit of others.
Avoid going to Mandla Dam on weekends as VIPs are more likely to come and close dam for public. Just as happened with nomi700 and me.
Beware of traffic on mirpur road (that goes from jhelum to mangla dam). Most of this road is two lanes, one for each direction and no partition. And many times bus drivers are racing with each other. They will occupy both the lanes and leave no road for you. The road condition is good but bus drivers drive like they are going on Jihad. I have never seen such rough driving even on GT road.
The road that goes from GT road to Rohtas fort is very bad in condition. It is only one lane. So if two cars are crossing then both have to take one tyre off the road (to the kachi side). The road itself is very poor in condition and lots of pot holes are there and in some places you can hear small rocks hitting the underside of your car.
Also there was a big army presence on the road to Rohtas Fort. I do not know if that is normal or if they were there just for one day.
Ramkot fort is the one right next to Mangla right? Last time I checked it was closed for public and was used by the Army and Chinese engineers.
Is it open for public now?
