Hmmm...well U'll hardly find a good spot in 'actual chitral'. The one stream once stocked with trout has been depleted. So the only option for you to either cross shandoor and enter phandar or cross lowari pass and go to upper dir area ( which considering the current law and order situation is not advisable). On phandar side , the first stop is kukush lake also known as baha lake. u'll have to park your vehicle are the chitral scouts check post and then trek for almost 11 kms towards lake alongside the stream coming from the lake, you can also try ur luck in the stream but I suggest not to waste your time in the stream as the fish are small. The trek is relatively easy except the end where it becomes steep. there is no settlement near the checkpost so you'll have to drive further towards phandar in order to get in contact with porters and hire'em ( we paid 2000/ donkey / day ). u'll also need license for fishing which can be obtained from local fisheries representatives near check post. once you are at the lake, you can opt for 2 camping sites on either sides of the bank. Since it's complete wilderness u need to be extra cautious as water is very clear and fish can easily see you, BUT I have seen ppl catching fish above 2 kg from the lake, however, I must say that those giants don't give a **** to spinners...:).
The next destination is Hundrap, which is further down into phandar valley, and it's heard that one can certainly expect to catch trophy trout from there. However, Hundrap has been closed for fishing since last 2 years and this year it's not likely to be opened as well.
Further down, phandar lake and the river adjacent to lake, the lake has good sized trout , however, it's full of vegetation as well, so can't be fished from the bank and the only way is via boat. the river adjacent also has trout but it's upto one's luck to catch anything ( we wasted whole day without a single bite).
Next is ghizer valley, and the junction of ishkoman river into phandar river, if the water of ishkoman is clear then there is a gud chance of catching fish otherwise it's pretty hard. the alternate would be to drive up stream alongside iskhoman river and try ur luck at a suitable place.
This is all i have for you at the moment, and my hands are tired of typing so much in one go...Thnx
