How does Honda expect Atlas to sell 1 million bikes in a year while the total sales in Pakistan stood at .8 million in 2012-13 with Atlas Honda placing first with a .6 million figure :S

Simple, by re-packaging existing products. see people who have cd or cg dont sell and buy same new bikes. I mean a guy having 2011 cd70 may not buy 2014 model because there is only sticker change. So he will keep bike for long time. By launching dread they encouraged and gave incentive to existing cd70 owners to buy their 'new' model. same is what they plan to do with cg. i personally feel that cg already has a dream model which is deluxe. but company is giving new lollypop to new cg dream will look like deluxe but no disk brake. Atlas are desperate to make sales and these re-packaged models are result of this desperation.

AHL is not all capable of manufacturing the whole bike, no matter how many parts they manufacture locally or from other local vendors, they are still dependant upon Hona Japan for some engine parts. Nor, in my view, will Honda Japan plan to part ways with Atlas because of an already established market across nook and corner of the country. Even if Honda Japan plans to come to Pakistani makret on its own it will take them a few years to do that. I do not understand why they should leave Atlas.
As far as the CBR150 and 500 are concerned, obviously these bikes cannot be labelled as Atlas Honda's bike because these are being imported and nothing is locally manufactured. If there are differences between AHL and Honda Japan then why they are introducing their CBR series through AHL?
I would apreciate if you shared your source for this info.

who gives a sh?t man.... AHL hv ridiculous fan following of hathora ustaad and people either who don't know about technology or people who loves to live in past.... there's no threat for AHL even if honda part ways, they will still sell in millions in rural areas.... just like they still selling millions of euro II while every 2nd one of them is standing in workshop for warranty claim.... AHL has nothing to do with enthusiastic bikers... AHL business strategy is plain and simple.... SAB GANDA HAI PER DHANDA HAI YEA...

In case the JV is terminated I don't see how the quality will be lowered until and unless you think that there are Japanese people from the Kumamoto factory working on the shop floors of the Atlas factory

some japanese management people do work in ahl karachi and sheikhpura.. but at senior level..

I don't care from where the parts are being managed/manufactured. I am only saying that AHL is not self sufficient in making all engine parts nor does AHL claim self sufficiency in this regard. That was my point in the above post.

atlas has almost all the drawings required to make the bike parts.. if any thing is not available it can be designed and manufactured in pakistan...

all this japani ghulami is not necessary... everything is possible... it is only the mentality that holds us back

i have worked in the atlas group.. i have myself machined all clutch parts of CD 70. all pistons of all honda bikes. cylinder for cd 70 and cd 100.

cylinder for cg125 is machined in sheikhupura. all the gear componenents are machined there as well.

all sheet metal parts are made in karachi and sheikhpura.

wheels are made in karachi as well.

for imported parts the circuit of cdi was imported from thailand which has no link with honda whatsoever

the crank and crank case are machined in karachi and sheikhpura respectively..

99% of the bike is manufactured locally.. the parts are not that difficult to machine. all it needs is an open mind. and willingness to pay attention to research and development. and some reverse engineering.

although i work in oil and gas sector now, i have a keera for manufacturing. and i know it can be done

I would like to agree with nfssaad's following comments. My father is an employee at Siemens Karachi and in the motor manufacturing department (which is BTW closed now due to previous government disaster).

Every component was being manufactured locally and copper wire for winding was purchased by another local wire manufacturer.

The only problem is with our dishonest Pakistani nature. Shoru mein acha acha do jub naam bun jaye tou sub ordinary. This is the reason people prefer imported items. This was they atleast are assured of quality that has been claimed.

You can observe the quality of a 1998 Honda CDI with today's. Observe the quality of a Japanese assembled Suzuki Alto and our local manufactured Suzuki ALTO.

I know there are inflation, taxation and US influenced government disastrous policies but still at the end we are getting a good imported quality for some extra bucks.

Bhai who says AHl is importing pridor or other bikes
these bikes most parts AHl is manufacturing themselves
and i think they are proud of that but still these bikes contains
imported parts which i saw in pic taken at AHl factory so they themselves
are telling which parts are imported and which they are manufacturing

What ever still Atlas honda bikes quality is very good as compare to other
and in my view even if honda leaves them even after that they will
remain biggest player in market

Liked your opinion, Even I, had ride CG for more than 8 years, and now switched to GS, however, Honda Has maintained its position in market for a long time but now they are no more customer oriented rather more of Job oriented these days.

the parts that you see are imported are only due to the fact that they are ridiculously cheap...and made in huge quantities.. except the carburettor.

the cost of setting up press machines for small items like washers etc are too expensive..

the left top you see a clutch inner part of the cg125.. of those only 2 parts of the assembly are imported from thailand. others are manufactured locally.

these parts are just assembly parts. they dont give functional work. except for the carburettor.

also you see the magneto assembly.. atlas autos is currently going to start manufacturing it locally..

I Know Many Of Them ..The Big Vendors...!! Produce Muffler Rims And Many Of Engine And Drive-train's Forging Item...All Are Locally Manufactured....!

Even If HONDA Parts Out......For Any Reason...They Will Still Be Working Hard Enough..

If you see the financial reports of Atlas Honda, their sales are hitting all time HIGHS! And theyr making great profits..
Theres no question that Atlas can't give Honda Japan good sales... but if u ask about quality.. then honda japan might not be that happy.
Honda japan might like to take over atlas due to yamahas entry... however sales is not the reason here.

mechanical engineer. have a masters in manufacturing.. left atlas group for two reasons.. low salary package.. which is common to the entire automotive industry.. oems and vendors alike..

and no matter how much i asked for it.. they would not let me work on the tool room, engineering design and development... coz thats what i really like.
