The Big Day
We have a long way sleep at night. We slept at about 08:30 of the previous night and our plan was to wake up at 05:00 and start the trek at 06:00. The night stretched its length as every member wake up to perform different activities during night and after a first time activity they never able to sleep for the next part of the night. What were the different activities, Apart from Nature’s call, some one feel suffocation due to low level of oxygen, some one want to calculate the hour of his sleep and quite disturbed when he noted down the time and it was 12:00 right mid night L. Finally from 5:00 of the morning team started to come out of the camps. Breakfast and preparation was going side by side and finally at 06:15 we left the camp site for the summit. We reached at Gali(3133m) at 7:10. From khori to Gali was a complete steep hike and level of snow was also tremendous. Very care full walking with a great patience was a need of the hour on such a trek. The only easy patch with in a trek was a one hour gentle walk just after Gali. As snow was a bit hard so we haven’t found it much difficult to break the trail. Except on some of the points normally we faced the snow of about 1feet. At the top snow was about 10/12 feet but we immersed up to the gaiters level on some places thanks to semi hard snow
. After Gali some of the time checks with the gaining of altitudes were
3335m: 08:15
3526m: 0915
3687m: 10:00
3825m: 10:40
4076m: 12:00 The temperature was dropped down when we reached at the top. Freezing Air was blowing and even seems it a hell difficult to take the pictures of the team. We stayed 10/15 minutes on the top and then rushed down for a shelter to avoid freezing air and then to avoid rain and hail storm.
Return back to Gali at 15:30. Due to rain and hail storm we tried to reach back to Gali for a shelter and stayed here about an hour. Rain have disturbed our planning a made our big group into small sub groups.
Resultant aggregate of the trek: Luck was with us o this trek. We the all seven members of the team scaled the MKM for which we are coming to the region. On previous day the trek was just like a summer trek so, all the team members did the trek in a unity. Today’s trek was a great challenge with snow so, we decided to make sub groups as per the Natural Pace and trek conditions of the trek. A big mistake do the most beginners in their starting treks is to reach at the top before very team members. IT IS NOT A RACE TO REACH FIRST ON THE TOP BUT IT IS AN ATTITUDE TO REACH ON THE TOP WITH ITS OWN PACE. After the years and many treks we all team members know their natural pace and we can’t cross our limits on the trek and that’s why we enjoy more pleasure from the treks too. Only some formal rules must be follow to every team members on the trek to keep in touch with other members etc etc.We formed three sub groups as Runners, Trekkers and SSG group and choice was the members to join which one they like.
Me always feel relaxed to be a part of the middle one sub group of the trek
