Tuning and Air filter for Toyota GLi 2015

Hi Guys,

My Gli 2015 completed 50,000 Km . Last month I went for Oil change to Toyota Walton They told me to change Air Filter ( costing 3400 Rs) and Tuning ( costing 1300-1400Rs) on my next visit . My questions are :

1 ) Where to buy Good Air filter in local market and of which brand is good for my car . and what would be the price ? They show me the filter and it clearly seems dirty but I want to change from local market .

2) Regarding Tuning , how would I know if my vehicle need Tuning Service ?

What type of air filter is installed in gli (wet / oily or dry)?
Cant comment on tuning but i think you should follow maintenance schedule for that

Good quality Air filter is avaliable in the market for 1100, in the tunning they will only check spark plugs and may tell you to change it along with connecting your car with their devise aka computer to see for any errors.

Get OEM Air, cabin and oil filter from Toyota.
Tuning is a myth, modern cars are ECU controlled and dont need tuning but some dealerships do offer ECU flashing but that too only after complete scan via OBD.

Secondly, it's not tuning. It is a throttle body service. Yes you need it at every 50,000kms.

yes you are right. They told that they will check with computer in tunning and will check spark plugs as well if they need to be changed .

Bro Usually they do check only spark plugs , cleaning Air filters in Tuning . I dont think they will go for Throttle body service .

Last week I went to Adil Zafar Motors Lahore for tuning of my brother's car Swift 2012 . They took 1000 Rs for Tuning and what they just did, checked Spark plugs , Air filter and AC Filter Cleaning and then attached computer to check any errors.

I was not satisfied with the tuning procedure and I am expecting the same Tuning for my Gli .

Do you think it's ok or should I ask them to clean throttle body as well ?

Ask them to clean throttle body only. The above mentioned tuning is a good way to loot people.

Koi fiada nai... I also raised my voice that changing spark plugs or cleaning it is not the tuning but they said sir in the 1400 rs package we only check the vehicle that if there are some errors on the ECU. And for any thing else you have to pay more

how about if we get throttle body serviced outside from some workshop ?

Costs 1500rs max with ecu reset. In case of grande you need ecu reset afterwards.

Do you think these roadside mechanics will do the job ?

If rpm goes high like 1.5-2k than it will need a reset. If it stays below 1 than there is no need.

Go to the lube shop and meet ali raza gul sahab there.
Ask him to clean throttle of your car with liqui moly proline throttle cleaner or whatever he suggests you. He got much more knowledge than interns at toyota working on your car.

Google them and you will find location. Workshop is on the road that links jinnah hospital signal with allah hu chowk.
