Alleged bandits remanded
KARACHI: Two bandits arrested by the Gizri police on Thursday were remanded to the physical custody of the Gizri police till January 28 by the Judicial Magistrate South Ashraf Hussain Khawaja, here on Friday.
The accused Omer Khan and Ali Muhammad Hajiani were arrested on Thursday after a three-hour long chase that culminated in an encounter with the police. Ali Hajiani is said to be the son of former EDO Education Gul Muhammad Hajiani.
According to the prosecution, the two-member gang was operating in the area for several months and were involved in scores of incidents in which women were targeted and looted. The police said that the accused were expert impostors and employed the same art to fool the police. According to the remand papers, the accused allegedly committed a number of robberies and thus their physical custody was required for thorough investigations. The court allowed the request and remanded them to custody of the Gizri Investigation Police till January 28.
