Once I had a Khyber and I parked it in Blue Area and suddenly I saw my car's number on a 1995 Civic. It was before computerised number era and the series was IDG. As I was thinking what to do the car drove away. I asked from the chowikdar of the plaza that if he knew from which office or shop that man left. Luckily the chowkidar knew, I asked the guy there took Civic owner's number and called him. He said the number was his and genuine.
The previous owner of the car was a lawyer and a friend. I told him about the issue, he asked me not to worry and next day we went to ETO and found out that there were two files with same number on different cars and ETO ruled in our favour because Khyber's file was older than Civic.
The Civic owner was given a two digit choice number for free as compensation. ETO made same offer to us, but we refused and kept the same number.
What a country.
