Agree with you regarding bikes but what about people in cars who run over pedestrians and bikers??? Car drivers who run red signals?? All that for what !!

Compare the statistics, till now I haven't seen any car run over pedestrians or bikers (provided that the bike didn't appear all-of-a-sudden in front of the car), run a red light in day time in Islamabad (whereas bikers are fond of that) etc.

Statistic wise you are right because there are more bikes than cars in Pakistan.im not defending the bikers at all,I'm talking about more about general attitude.Last two minor bumps I had in Pakistan involved bikers and for that reason I tend not to drive when I'm in Pakistan anymore.

All were safe, the kid sitting on the fuel tank hit his head on the road, fainted.. but later was fine.

Just a small contribution towards the topic and a request to all the forum members,

Please stop and give way to pedestrians crossing the roads specially children and women. I am not asking to stop on highways but on smaller roads and streets. They deserve to be given way.

I personally stop to give them way and often get honked by cars around for stopping. They see that I am giving way but would not stop and keep on driving and blocking the pedestrians.

Please imagine if it was your mother or daughter standing on the road trying to cross and no one is cooperating to give them way.

I always have a tendency to do that wherever possible but many times the over efficient bikers and taxi walas blindly overtake my car and I witnessed some real close calls because of these lunatics.

I too have a tendency to do that but there is the issue of those maniacal tailgaters which urge me to do otherwise. If you have visited abbottabad you would have noticed a huge number of carry dabbas(bolan) and ravis. They are mainly the trouble makers.

Yes it depends on the situation as well but we should all try towards a collective effort. I have been to some parts of world where people religiously practice this. It feels very nice. People will ultimately and slowly learn from us.

Yes exactly.The other day our professor gave us a lecture on this subject and told an example from his life when he was in England. He said that I was standing on the side of street to cross it and a passing car stopped to let him go whereas my sir refused and asked him to carry on. This made the man quite cross and he told him that this is basic humanity and a part of our society to let people cross the road first.
