All Toyota Corolla Fans ; Get ready for the most awaited reveal. The 12th Generation Corolla will be made public in China on November 16th at an Auto Show. It will be a China spec vehicle. Later this month a US spec car will be shown at LA Autoshow.
The 12th Generation Corolla will be for sale summer of 2019 in US, which means we can expect a new Corolla in Pakistan sometime in 2020. As it is thought to be a global model, we can easily assume what we will get same model in Pakistan. Obviously as always, a PKDM vehicle a lower spec vehicle, safety as well as features when compared with international variant.
So , unofficially what we know for now ;
It will be a global model.
Developed by Toyota North America.
By global means , same model interior and exterior in every other market it will be sold. Same like Global 10th generation Civic.
Based on Toyota New Global Architecture, Uniform platform used by Toyota currently in use by Camry, Avalon, Prius,Rav4.
Will be lighter, lower, wider, longer more spacious.
Styling on interior & exterior similar to Corolla hatch [ as pictured]. Improved and better handling, suspensions.
On exterior, slimmer front end. On side profile, new glass pan at A pillar while at C pillar a bigger trapezoidal pan as well resulting in more openness.
Tablet style head-unit as on Corolla hatch or Corolla wagon. Semi digital cluster for higher trim models while regular conventional needle like for lower end models. New modern interior layout somewhat like Corolla Hatch.
A 2.0L ,168hp Naturally aspirated engine for US market is expected along with carry over of current 1.8L engine in certain markets. No turbocharged corolla as per current info, still we can expect one. A Pakistani Corolla most probably use the same 1.8L engine/ 2ZR-FE. Pakistani Corolla might kill 1.3L but keep 1.6L variant. As far as transmission, a conventional manual as well as CVT is expected.
This is what CEO of Toyota North American tells us about new Corolla “it will be better looking than the current model. The current model is a little bit tall and not very sleek. The new Corolla will have a lower center of gravity, better ride and handling, lighter weight for better fuel efficiency ”.
