No.. it will not be like that.. it will be wider.. lower and slightly longer base. 12th generation is being developed by Toyota USA and Corolla is not sold in Japan anyway under Corolla name.
As far as I know 11th generation USA specs Corolla is also less in length and width than Asian spec Corolla.

this year corolla will follow the same route as civic with same model world wide. look at axio photos and corolla photos, they are virtually identical (till the rear wheels).
Maybe it's just me but I find the exterior (front) look of the car rather ugly.
11th generation Corolla is not on TNGA and it's also not a global model. The 12th is a global model most probably as I know after talking to Toyota people here in US at NY autoshow.
Civic X is global.. The new Camry is global
I never said that 11th gen Corolla was TNGA, the point of concerns was if this 12th generation Corolla TNGA global model will be American specs and equal in length and width to that of American specs 11th generation than it will be shorter in length and width than Asian spec Corolla 11th generation for sure. At this stage only you can confirm if it is bigger than Asian spec Corolla 11th generation or smaller?
So when is the 12th gen releasing here? In the end of this year or the end of 2019?

2.0L NA is the only engine offered for USDM mated with 8 speed CVT or 6 speed manual. good news is corolla hatchback is going on sale in june/july this year so expect the other markets to get it sooner as well
Than we are going to get same 1.8 from Grande in this new generation like we are getting old R1.8 with civic.
I don't think any Direct Injection engine will be coming here considering our fuel situation. Maybe transmission with Launch Gear might come, rest mostly it will be same (or improved) 1.8.

8 speed CVT with the first gear being an actual physical gear for launching the vehicle and then the cvt pully takes over with 2nd onwards gear ratios.
Direct-Shift CVT. With an actual first gear, it should be quick off the line.
