Now guys be reasonable.. there isn't even that much of a performance disparity between the Cooper S and the Carerra S as much as there is between a mehran and a veyron..

It could well be a JCW Cooper S (as shown in the flyer too), which is quite a potent car in its own right (could knock down the 0-100s in low 6's).. MINI quite frequently enter their cars in motorsport events and rallies, so its not something they haven't done before... Conversely, Carrera S isn't as such the cream of the lot for the Porsche, it might be quick on the straights, but I wouldn't be too wrong to assume that the MINI would be quicker on the bends.. So, it could have been quite a close battle..

And MINI is quite a reputed and established brand, comparing it to something like mehran would be a disgrace if anything..

I disagree. I think it could of made for some interesting racing. They do seem confident, so your simile seems out of proportion. The specs for the cars are closer than you think, considering they pictured the Cooper Works Mini in their ad.

seriously you guys take my words a little too seriously. Still there is no comparing a mini in ANY form against a base model 911,.. it's a no brainer,.. the mini is already pumping out more power than that chassis can handle,.. and don't expect it to last the entire duration of a "real" race.

if minis want a real race then i suggest they go head to head with the GT3 RS or STFU.

nope, no fanboy-ness in this case (thoug i am a porsche nut). i would have reacted the same way had porsche been replaced with ferrari, MB, audi etc because it is actually BMW who is being the antagonist here and is using the great racing heritage of the original mini to poke & prod at porsche in this case.

Here, mini being the party to send invitation tries to set up the rules as well which would help them...so I think Mini is the true chicken here.

Well i didn't liked the way Head of Mini guy acted in the video, he seemed to be on a ego trip and it seems to me he wants to prove a point to Head Of Porsche and i won't be surprised if its something personal and has to do with him leaving the organization in the first place.
