Upgrading from 8th to 9th Gen Civic

And its a matter of personal prefernce and choice
No doubt 8th gen is the best Civic ever assembled here
That doesnt mean 9th gen is bad
9th gen just lacks that punch and the so called " Civic " factor
8th gen has all the style and beauty but 9th gen is better for our local bad and broken roads
It is something like a Corolla with lil bit of driving pleasure but lacks the driving pleasure Civic used have in all prev gens 6th 7th and 8th

I kept both Civics side be side for sometime around 1.5 month
Initially after spending so much on the new one i was in denial ( i knew 8th gen was better for me but still the sum of 25 lacs forced me to think and believe its a worthy upgrade ) my heart was telling me to sell 9th gen and keep 8th gen but then later i disposed off the 8th gen since i got a really nice offer and around 2 lacs above the market price so i sold it
The 1st day when I brought 9th gen home i was loving it
The new features like imid display eco button and the smooth and soft drive of new civic really impressed me something i never expected from a civic
But then next day when i was going to college in the morning i decided to take 8th gen with since 9th gen wasnt insured
The moment i sat in the car 8th gen i said to myself
" What the Hell Ahmed ! Seriously , you just spent 25 lacs on a similar thing , this thing gives almost same feel "
Then i was getting late
I did overspeeding that day and drove at breakneck speed
Took some sharp turns at even 80 km/h
Man what a road grip this car has
The 9th gen will flip over 2 times if you try to do this in it ...

Khair its like a love story
I always had a crush with most of the cars i kept or have
But 8th gen is like true love ...

Anyways here is my analysis for daily routine drive

8th gen over 9th gen

Its a gem
A pure gorgeous beauty
Better styling
Better acceleration ( 8th gen is 1.8 seconds faster from 0 to 100 )
Much Better road grip at higher speeds , 9th gen feels so light and like a 9th gen corolla after 120
Better handling at corners
Better interior plastics and finishing
That curvy multiplex meter and dash layout looks better and attractive than 9th gen civic
Rear reading lights
Better side mirror indicator design
Lovely seating position literally gives a feel as if lait k gari chala rahay ho aap
Dual exhaust finisher
A great handbrake design and placement i like it
A great road presence
Its purely a Man's car as fouad bhai once said

9th gen over 8th gen

New shape
A great car if you are status conscious ( 99% of the ppl just change 8th gen becoz of this factor )

Better fuel economy
Soft and extremely comfortable seats ( non leather version )
Better visibility
Much much better road clearance just like a Corolla
I mid display
Auto off headlights
Remote trunk opener
Climate control
Cruise control
Better and a bit soft suspension as compared to 8th gen 9th gen feels really soft and smooth however i had michelins in 9th gen and have euro stars in reborn may be thats the reason
More comfortable for our bad roads
Once i crossed a really rough and broken road infact it wasnt a road at 80 km/h
9th gen surely beats 8th gen here
Solid and heavy doors

But you cant get best of both Worlds
Since 9th gen beats 8th gen in above mentioned aspects it lacks that " Civic Fun and punch "

I would adv save money for 10th gen Civic
I am sure it will be much better than 9th gen and 8th gen too

interior is changed, more like conventional cars and engine would be either earth dream(better economy with same power) or turbo one(better power and economy but hi octane and costly maintenance).

Even though i love the 9th Gen. But to be honest i still prefer driving the 8th Gen. The sense of fun and pleasure available in 8th Gen is not there in 9th. The sheer excitement, grip and precision control is far superior in 8th Gen. As a brotherly advice and suggestion i'd recommend: wait and jump directly to 10th Gen.
9th is better for fuel economy, gadgets and comfort. For driving pleasure: 8th is still better. Even if you start liking 9th Gen there will be a lot of times you would want to switch back to 8th. You'll miss it quite often

Great comparison. This is also my point of view. The ride should be balanced (comfort + sport ) which 9th gen is. 8th gen is to much towards sportiness, which is only fun if we have proper roads for it. The condition of our roads and traffic jams here and there, one should have a balanced ride.

Had both of them in my personal home used cars. People mostly have negative reviews about the 9th gen as compared to the 8th gen but i personally like the 9th gen.

Reasons for what I like the 9th gen:
-An aggressive front end including factory fitted projectors
-Curvy rear end
-More comfort cuz of better seats as compared to the 8th gen
-Interior like a super luxury vehicle including the extra display for the fuel economy, radio, time, etc
-Better fuel economy
-Climate Control
-Less cabin noise due to soft suspension
-Less load on engine due to EPS

Some cons:
-Door cards are made up of low quality material as compared to the 8th gen
-Rear is raised a lot as compared to whole civic generations (but can be lowered in a decent daily driven manner)

Rest people talk about road grip etc whatsoever, give the EuroStar tires a break and get some quality tires i bet you will get a better road grip.
And above all, i love my 7th gen the most

the question is why spending money on 9th when op has 8th gen which isnt much different in comparison to 8th, rather 8th is more towards sportiness (the thing which honda is proud of!)! no one is talking about resale! 9th gens stick to their owners like elfy! hard to sell them! while reborn goes witch a decent pace! 9th gen has a confused styling! front is sleek and crisp while rear is like a pregnant cow making the overall design dis-proportionate! car has a lost control and if u notice , its tyres are little inwards and the bulky body bulges outwards ! dont wanna write more but there are serious design craps in 9th! much better to go for grande instead of 9th if one wanna change the car asap! 25 lacs worth of money for these small changes arnt worth as said by innocent devil!

I had 16" michelin primacy hp in my 9th gen
Even then it used to vibrate at above 120 to 130
11th gen Corolla even Xli with eurostars feels better and more stable than 9th gen civic having branded expensive tyres
8th gen is a class apart if we compare the road grip

And yes the black arm rest of door trims soon starts to peel off ( 9th gen Civic )

Well if getting rid of Eurostars makes 9th Gen better, getting rid of Eurostars on 8th will make it much much much better compared to 9th with same ratio as both cars on stock
Tyres do not play a role in aerodynamic lift at high speed, the 9th feels unstable at 150-160 even with 16" and 205/60 as on my car, while even today my 8th Gen feels stable and confident even at 190+ on 15" and 205/65. When I brake my 9th Gen at high speed, it scares me not in terms of braking force but losing the grip factor. But the 8th makes you feel confident it will stop without going out of balance. The turns like for example leaving the ring road entering on to its vast round interchanges and curved roads that I feel slightly scared to take at a speed of 50kph in 9th can be managed easily in 8th at a speed of 70kph
Mainstream hardcore cars mostly still use hydraulic steering, a reason which was evident to me after owning a 9th Gen, lack of feedback and steering response compared to hydraulic in 8th
The climate control does not mean AC compressor works better or the gas is cooler. It is just a fancy gadget to provide psychological satisfaction, doesn't make a car better to drive. If that's the case does it mean a 660cc JDM Honda Zest with climate control is better than 8th Gen Civic???
Well about Cruise control, as far as i remember @spano did install it on his 8th Gen as a DIY project turning it into a Cruisematec.
For people who know what a car feels to drive: 8th Gen is simply love and for those who love the 9th Gen (i do but not as much as my 8th Gen) the main reason is "it's a newer model so it must be better" that's pure denial. I am thankful to Allah Almighty that i have the opportunity to keep both. If not, I definitely would have sold my 9th and switched back to 8th.
Please let's just tell him our experiences. I hope and pray what he feels happier and satisfied with may be his decision. Best of luck with the brain storming bro.

spano bhai keep 8th gen, 9th gen looks ugly especially the front grill.

some people will find it funny but I found 7th gen to be more comfortable than 8th especially the back seats.

I have currently Michelin Primacy HP 16" tyres on my 8th gen and I drive in at 170 180km/hr almost once a month when ever I go to motor way and it's rock stable at that speed.

the handling and grip difference between 8th and 9th gen is overstated on pakwheels imo, never felt such huge difference nor read about it in international honda forums, infact compared to 8th gen, 9th gen has less understeer and handles like a smaller, more nimble car, i have driven both cars on highway upto 170. at speeds above 120, the eps of 9th gen feels more stable, grippy than 8th gen's hps which gets excessively soft(characteristic of hps on high rpm).

haven't owned a 8th gen civic
I do have the 9th gen civic since 1 1/2 years so I can comment on that
It is a fine car.......no issues with it whatsoever. running advan db 205/65/15. Driven till 188 on motorway, the car does feel a little light but it's stable. No vibrations etc. The car is tail happy though, go into any turn at excess speeds and the car tends to tail out. Happened with me quite a few times. corolla has this tendency too. dunno if the 8th gen has it or not.
Rest, well, no complains from it whatsoever. Satisfied with it.
