Upgrading my Toyota XLi 2009 to 1.5

I have recently bought Toyota Corolla XLI in pretty mediocre condition at bargain price. Now I am planning to upgrade it both mechanically and aesthetically. My first goal is to swap the engine to 1.5L with R1NZ with CVT transmission. It also requires suspension work. I also plan to install cruise control in it. For body, my plans are to change both the bumpers, all four doors, front hood(bonnet), fender with complete repaint job. I'll try to share my experiences over here in this thread

I wanted to start with Engine swap first. I visited multiple vendors in Rawalpindi/Islamabad to get the prices of both1NZ and R1NZ, as my mechanic was insisting for 1NZ and I myself am personally inclined to R1NZ due to slightly newer technology. For 1NZ I got quotes ranging 130k-140 for assembly and 100-130k for R1NZ. I decided to go with Imran autos Kacha Stop main IJP road. Final assembly swap cost given is 100K. He also suggested to go for complete engine swap with original transmission CVT and everything. I was surveying for it and was getting price between 350K-400K for complete swap, but he said he will do everything for an additional 120K which includes CVT transmission, ABS, ECU, complete wiring, Meter, pedal and labour charges for suspension work as well. I have to only provide the oils... both transmission and engine
Correction ... Due to extensive suspension work he charged me for labour

Everything got disassembled yesterday.... engine... complete front suspension, rear suspension... today they will start assembling... will keep you updated

Both rear and front suspension job done. Cost breakdown on suspension jobs are
Front shocks complete set -20K
Rear shocks -14k
Steering box - 20k
Ball joints, z-links jumpers, front rear suspension bushes- 15k
Labour - 10K

Radiator was also in bad shape had to change that as well complete set costed 18k
Engine is also installed. Now electrician job is left... will share expenses once car gets ready

My Brother also runs a PDR workshop in Rawalpindi main Peshawar Road. As told after mechanic job is done will start body job. HE started sourcing body parts. Yesterday he bought
Front Hood (Bonnet)
Rear Hood (Diggi)
Both fenders
all parts together costed 65K

Meanwhile hunt for body parts continued as well
Bought 3 doors for 50k, Front Right door didn't need replacement
Front and rear bumpers both 8k, new ones from Ashraf Autos Gawalmandi, they had Taiwan made as well which were of 18k, but the dealer suggested for Pakistan made, so on his recommendation chosen those
front and rear spacers for bumpers 2500

Last Saturday I visited the Kacha market IJP road... bought side mirrors for 12.5 K, will attach pictures soon

Mean while body work is on going and painter is also working to prepare ground for different pieces
