I need to run fan and tube light in my room? how do I do that ?

adding a UPS behind a circuit breaker is a better idea.

if u want to add UPS directly, just open up ur tube light and fan switch, take out the LIVE and GROUND wires coming from wapda from the switch, connect that live and ground wire to UPS input, connect UPS output to the fan and tube light switches.
UPS should be plugged in series ( in between source and load )
some ppl prefer to add a second selection switch after the ups output, which has both, ups output and wapda as input, and gives one output according to the knob position

I am attaching a rough sketch of the wiring, all you have to do is to discount the + wire (which i have shown in my diagram as connected from KESC to Fan and instead route it through the UPS) you can use the nuetral wire as already suggested by redbull only if you have separate breaker otherwise phase will colide with phase (as my electrician explained).

If a run a fan at full speed, Will it use the battery more as compared to running at low speed.

Fist of all we need to know what type of ups you have and what type of wiring do you want. One type is what redbull_ar is telling you and second is the common ground method which a_k is telling you.

If its just your room and 1 fan and 1 light, the easiet way is to buy a ups and plug it into wapda / kesc, disconnect the fan and tubelight old wiring (both possitive and negative). Now take a piece of wire and and plug it into the UPS output and attach it to the fan and light. thats it.

As for running fan on low or high speed, you will save almost nothing by running it slow, instead you will burn the fan motor or reduce fan life. Every fan manufacturer is clearly writng on new fans to never connect it with ups using dimmers. Always run it on full speed if its running on UPS.

I'm not clear about this but its written on fan itself thats why i told you. I bought a new Pak Fan a week ago and it has a sticker on it saying run fan on full speed while on UPS otherwise we are not reposible for burnt motor and no warranty shall be given.

The only reason can be the high voltage coming from the UPS and dimmers not being able to work properly with it and maybe therefore not supplying the right voltage to the fan.

Hope u r doing good. I wanted to seek your expert opinion on an issue related to UPS which just came into my non-tech brain. I have a UPS installed at home and the electrician used that GROUND wire method for installing it. I mean he has not given separate wiring for all rooms. he just connected a wire coming out of UPS to a wire in one of the switchboards in a room where UPS is placed. In all other rooms, he did something in the switchboards and it worked. Now dear, in your opinion, is this an energy efficient method or the one in which a separate external wiring is done from UPS till switchboards in required rooms? I think in this GROUND method, electricity loss is more due to high resistance of ground. what's your take on this?? thank u

Most of the electricians are not educated, they just learn wiring as chotas and whatever you tell them, they will go their own way. Even one army electrical engineer I know just ran a wire all over the house with clips for UPS, while it can be neatly done at the circuit breakers box.

In my previous rented house the electrician I got knew how to connect the UPS via circuit breakers box. He left those circuit breakers which were on water pump, iron, microwave, ac, refrigerator and freezer. Only a few metres cable was used from CB box in the porch to the lounge where UPS was placed.

If you have CB box, get your UPS connected there. Sadly in my own house the electrician was so stupid that he ran a separate wire from UPS to entire house in the concealed wiring. I had asked him to keep all the heavy appliances on separate breakers so that he could just connect the CBs for bulbs and fans, but the dumba$$ did not understand. Now I have limited points which run on UPS. Thanks God I have been on his neck getting most of the points, but still the CB connection with UPS had given me more freedom, mean which point to use in case of loadshedding, now I have one energy saver and fan in each room and toilet on UPS and one saver in porch.

Look at your main switch. It should cut-off both terminals when in off position. You can connect your ups to the internal wiring through any socket after turning it off at the main switch and only if it cuts off both terminals hot and cold otherwise it is dangerous for your ups and house wiring plus connected fans etc.

If you have a relay or circuit breaker as autophile bhai has mentioned than well and good otherwise do it manually before connecting your ups. same wiring could be used if you use above method.
