The fusion may not be a bad choice. The car is based on a Mazda platform. Some of the engines like the 2.3 4 cylinder and 2.5 4 cylinder are Mazda designed.

The transmission can have shift flare from 2-3 gear I believe if it's the 6f35 transmission from ford.

2010-2012 V6 came with an aisin trans. That'd be the one I'd want tbh.

Tbh, a fusion would probably be one of the last cars I'd pick if I couldn't find anything else. They're boring and generally may not be as reliable as others. Also, abs had some issues too.

The focus and fiesta, I would avoid them. They had dct which were very problematic.

If you can find a mint condition well maintained example, it will serve you well.

Again, keep in mind. These are all used cars around 10+ yrs old so don't be surprised if you have to spend some money on repairs/maintenance after purchase.

Salam affan bhai, things werent good earlier to buy a car, however now its near and I am going to see 2x 2004 rollas (147k and 188k driven) tomorrow, then just now saw a 2009 elantra with 133k for 4k.... You said earlier pre 2010 are good ones, so should i go for it?... I know rollas are no brainers but they are fr 5k and without safety certifications.

What do you suggest?

Can't go wrong with either really, all dependent upon previous maintenance history and condition.

However, I would try to find a car that is safetied or from an owner willing to do so.

If not, you could end up being stuck with a huge repair bill you were not aware of.

If not willing to safety, ask if they are okay taking it to a shop for an inspection. That way, you pay the bill, but at least you can know of any hidden issues, and possibly negotiate a deal.

Also, if going for the Elantra, ask if the timing belt was changed. It would be due at that many Kms. If not, factor in around $1000 for the job. If it breaks, your engine will be destroyed.

Alhumdulillah bought a blue 06 Matrix with 116k kms... The seller was an absolute id**t, but the car was great, so kuch bardasht karlia us pagal ko and got the car.

As the winters have arrived, i got delayed\lazy in getting it undercoated earlier.. but will go this weekend.

I wanted to ask, should we wash the car before undercoating? Car is pretty dirty from few previous rains and not cleaned in 3months

Then after undercoating is done, how often should i wash the car to get rid of any salt deposits?

Allah's plans have brought me back to Canada as well.

I would wash it for sure before undercoating. Have it rustproofed at a reputable shop. I personally did my cars myself in my driveway, which you can also do if you have the room and tools to do so.

You can wash it as you please. It's going to get dirty every 15 minutes you drive anyways

I personally would wash my cars once a week but that's just my own choice.

I don't have tools or know how to do it myself yet...will learn and do it by next winter.. plus no such space available too right now.

Reputable shops mein Krown comes up but they expensive for me now, like 170.
1 workshop of Pakistani owner in Etobicoke is doing for 100 so was going to try them. Already getting car maintained from there.

Regarding washing in winter, it won't affect the undercoating right?

I'm in Northern Ontario.

It shouldn't, just wait a week before washing again. Avoid deep water obviously as well.
