Yes, you can import a C180, you can even import a E200 2006+ model.

What would be the advantages/disadvantages of importing such vehicle from Japan vs importing from UK. What would be the difference in duties & taxes if any?

What varient do you want to import? The 1.0L X? 1.3L U? 1.3L ILL? 1.5L RS?

Yes, it is applicable to vehicle's from the U.K aswell. Well, they're aren't any disadvantage's of importing it. But the local dealer's here don't give European specification vehicle's a good look if you know what I mean. The taxes and duties will remain the same. The freight charge's would be slightly different and when it will arrive on the port, the Custom official's will charge extra duty for luxury accessories.

Yes the duty structure for SUV's/Pickup's is different. Pickup's don't get charged the normal duty they're duty would be considered as ''Commerical duty'', which is much lower than the normal duty you would have to pay for let's say a 3.0L Toyota Hilux Vigo. First of all, its not just 1800cc cars and below, ALL CARS are allowed, jeeps are not allowed.
mini pajeros and terois are also allowed as they all in the dollar duty category.
If you read the SRO113 dated 13th december, it does not say anything about the cc, its just explains the cars upto 5 years can be imported.
