@awais: first of all k24a2/3's (cl9-tsx) pistons are 10.5 cr,other k24 yeild 9.0-9.5cr. i dont know which k24 block you have but i would always prefer the k24a2/3 block over anyone else for a number of reasons:
1- oil squirters
2- higher cr pistons
3- higher rev limiting capabilities
a k24 block wouldnt cost much but give you more power to play with,a short comparison of 86mm bore vs 87mm bore is more then enough to get the k24 block.
Even if you plan to go for stage 2 cams..u dont need the cam gears,the vtc helps you to degree the intake cams to 50 degree advance,which is more then enough to play with. though people do tend to buy the exhaust cam gear(stock cant be adjusted by vtc)...which at times yeilds more power if the tuner knows the tricks.
i would highly recondmend a k-pro if you go for anything over stock,its makes tuning much better and yeilds results.
as for the your friends whp numbers,im quite dissapointed,its low for a frank allmotor build,who did the tuning :D??
