you need to clean and polish them out with hand - they are polished with very fine grade sandpaper, think 2000 grit for finish, then you have to coat them with lacquer to preserve them otherwise they oxidize naturally.
slapping a V8 in this shell is not exactly a good idea. I know about a dozen 114 myself which had a myriad of engines in them all are now scrapped. The rusting issues on this model are a bit nasty.
why???
kya maut aatee hai unko??? to take out the gearbox on this shell
sir can you post some pics if possible ?
I was shocked as well.Ajeeb pagal howe hain sab .My other merc had the column shift which had to be replaced with the normal gearbox since the shifting kit had worn out and new kit wasnt available * i imported the kit later on* .got it replaced with a genuine w114 gearbox .i have got two of these.Every time i visited the workshop no matter how small the job is i was given a bill of 2-3 k.
Find better mechanics or diy it.

Salam,
Why you want to change the engine, I think it has 2400CC OM616. Its a very good engine keep it.
it has a 2200cc diesel but im changing it as im going for restomod and want more power ,so it can be ait fun too
engine and gearbox are up for a grab i only drove the car for one day the gearbox and evebrything was fine ,you can inbox if interested ,
did you try soft buff on your chrome parts ?
inbox me your demand
and updates ????
also dont forget to look in to the diff aswelli
we got done with denting ,put "astar" to avoid rust for the time being as paintwork will start after eid yes first i was thinking of replacing rear hissa and putting lsd hissa but then everybody advice'd me not to change full hissa and try if i can only replace the differential to lsd one , the "guctcha" let hope i can find one that would fit with the orignal housing
remove those hubcaps and store them in a safe place! they will be stolen and new are **** expensive!
further more what about the engine?I strongly advice you to get the mechanicals done before paint no matter how good your denter and and painters are.replaced engines in couple of cars no matter how careful the mechanic is he is always going to scratch or dent the paintwork!
yes were doing mechanicals before paint , first engine(1jzgte) will be fitted and tested ,after that paintwork will be done ,and when i got the car one cap was missing found one but the clips were missing
decided to upload some pics of a side project ,three friends wanted to make a gocart ,it was really hard to do it ,but then it wasnt impossible ,everything was custom made in our factory ,we worked on it ourselves .but the high tech late work and etc was done by pros, here are a few pics from in between the project and at the end after completion i took it to the fuel station :Ptesting the self made steering systemfriend came over for a ride
