Mohtaram Irshad Sahib,
The case is sub judice in the court and it will be decided there. Even if the government decides something, it has to conform with the law. In the eyes of the Islamabad High Court the law has been broken. The judgement might be illegal in your eyes but at the end of the day the thing which prevails is what the court considers as legitimate. You, I or anybody is not the judge. If you think the judgement is wrong, you can always appeal in the higher court. That's how the system works.
I too have to buy a new car for my family. I also consider the local manufacturers as looters and the government is conniving with the local manufacturers in all this fishy game of kickbacks and commissions. This is the same government which has allowed the local manufacturers to loot us and at the same time allowed the smugglers to make their illegal smuggled cars kosher. Some news items have pointed their fingers at few high ups who were the main beneficiaries of this illegal scheme. Their smuggled Land Cruisers were 'legitimised' by this illegitimate scheme.
My point is that we the end-users of cars should make a group called 'pakwheelers' to force the government to protect our rights so that we can use good quality cars. We should force them to compel the local manufacturers to make less expensive quality cars in the country and if they fail to do so, which they have, then allow us to import good cars from abroad which are less expensive. To possess cars is the basic right of every Pakistani. Currently they are being made more and more expensive day by day and all of us just talk and don't struggle to force our government to make a policy so that we can own good quality cars at a reasonable price.
Just to give an example; a 2010 used Toyota Premio costs a staggering US $ 33,000 to import into Pakistan from Japan. In the US you can get a fully loaded 2010 Mercedes Benz E350 Sport for the same amount of money and there is no comparison between the two. What crime have we Pakistanis committed that we have to spend $ 33,000 to import a Toyota Premio from Japan which costs $ 36,000 if bought directly from the market in Pakistan.
Come on folks, let's join hands in making 'pakwheelers' group to protect our rights, majority of us don't even know them (our rights) let alone are prepared to struggle for them (our rights).
Regards.
