thats quite shocking , and quite brave of you to follow the stolen car like that, however, police should've been informed during the chase (however, when involving the police, thanx to our legal system, one also fears that the police will do nothing but to include you as a "suspect" and indulge you into this whole process as a felony) these fears stops many of us in our daily routine to stop, or at least inform about a crime even if they know its happening sadly!

The only wise thing would have been to think of it as your own car and then makeup your mind thereafter any action would have been justified:

options

leave it life is more precious (logically the best solution i guess)
Follow at a distance and try to call 15 (better than above)
Try to stop the thieves by banging your car or giving them a side on a ditch (endless possibilities mostly harmful for you

3 practical things you could have done.

1 Give life to the guy who's car was stolen follow his car at a safe distance.....
2 call 15 coordinate with the police about the whereabouts
3 follow them till they run into a picked which Islamabad is full off.

brother i am so amazed that during such a situation u are so relaxed and listening to songs
dont make bully out of others man they might be ur friends u guys going somewhere or something else. if somebody stoles a car and has a gun he would have eyes as well. and if they knew u were following they would not be so cute to spare you ok.
