Just saw this thread pop back up, wanted to follow up. I bought 97' surf, happy so far.

Thats far ahead of the local vigo champ which feels like a bedford truck or a big pinto. :S only shashka, nothng else.

would any brother compare Vigo with Nissan's NAVARA ? Which one of the two should be a winner in quality, comfort, style, resale, parts etc.

I just bought one after much hesitation, countless nights of comparing the Thai one and the local one. But in a ll honesty a brand new car is a brand new car , and in this price range nowadays one cant imagine getting a brand new Pick up. Saw many Thai ones, all of them raped by guards and Zamindars. The new ones cross the four million plus mark. Its not at all as underpowered as I imagined. Go for it!

i would suggest go for Vigo 2700cc or may be above BUT in petrol and you will love it Diesel will make you cry as the quality of our diesel is of 1960's so better on petrol than diesel ...and yes its a pickup truck go for brand new whether if it is a champ or if you can get it from japan but go for new ....

Are you happy with the decision? I ask because as a farmer driving dirt roads I really should buy a Vigo or Surf. My Jimny is too small and a 97 Prado is not suitable for carrying muddy stuff. My concern regarding Hilux and Surf, which are very practical, is their ride quality on bad roads.

I sold the Jeep by the way, but I think its way better than Vigo champ. But for loading up Vigo is the way to go. Thats just my opinion.

Surf is not suitable for loading muddy stuff as well, if your after ride quality surf is the way to go. But once you have loaded up Vigo Champ, it ain't that bad as well.

will there be a petrol variant for the 2014 model for the vigo champ? also, the steering wheel and auto-shifter knob should be updated, similar to the fortuner that was recently released.

Hi! How was your experience while riding on Motorway and crossing Kallar Kahar range. Does it Stall ? As I am told by a number of people. Moreover, is the back seat really BUMPY that you can't get your kids seated nicely and comfortably.
I am of the same opinion that buying a 0 meter Vigo champ Pak model is far better than going for a 100,000 KMs prado - surf or even Thai Vigo.
I want to use this for family and Mountain trips as well. planning to remove the bars and roof rack and put a back lid.
What do you suggest ?

Its not that bad on the motorway and it does not really stall, but then again its still a little underpowered, however you can get a unichip installed in it and it can give you an additional 30 or odd HPs. Should sort it out. The back seats are uncomfortable but thats mainly because of the suspension. Coil overs can be installed they are available from Thailand now (bolt on). Its a fairly decent off roader and serves the purpose well.

First comparing Thai vigo with Champ then Champ is better but if you compare Thai petrol(The new shape) with Champ then definitely Thai Petrol is far better then Champ Diesel......But if you want to talk about the ride than non is comfortable and difficult to control if emergency brakes applied on a high speed.....Had a terrible accident when brakes were applied to avoid a pickup......it turned the back(Tail) in the momentum and spun.....Comparing 1997 Surf with Vigo is just comparing a car with a truck.......there are pros n cons but you have to decide for what purpose you are buying...BTW I liked your Surf color and the condition.........In which year it was imported(Recondition)??

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying an Automatic Vigo Champ 2.5L Diesel in Karachi.
Can someone please share the fuel consumption details of it?
Also is there a significant difference in the fuel economy of local Champ and UK Invincible version?

Please only comment if you have first hand knowledge/experience only. No guesses.

I agree dont buy the local Hilux. We had one and the clutch died at 40,000 KM. Terrible machines. Go for imported Vigo.

Gives between 7-8 in city and 10.5-12 on highway. Not much difference in fuel economy of both. My Vigo gives 7.5-8 and Onvincible used to give 7.6-8.2.
Overall Vigo champ is a very decent car if you don't compare it with imported vigos. Maintainance cost lower than imported one and newer model in same price. Imported models, especially invincible, on the other hand are more comfortable and powerful, but they have a higher maintainance cost, more prone to issues and will be older.

It's tough to choose for me as both have their pros and cons, but if I can find a relatively newer model of invincible with low mileage and good comdition I would go for that, even though it's old. But the only reason for that is more powerful engine.
