It could be the carbs. It could be intake stacks for the fuel injection system. Do you have any pictures? We might be able to help if you had some. Or you could get some off the net.

i know the reason for the fuel being spit out but i was wanting to know the reason for carbon spitting out....... or does that also have to do with the mixture settings

Is that actually fuel coming out of the tail pipes or condensed water vapor????

I very much doubt its petrol. Let me know as I plan to hang a bucket there and reap the fruit!!

hahaha..I put that there for some guy on another forum to see...a mustang forum..its completely normal...the reason for this is the water vapour from the combustion cooling down considerably due to contact with the cooler exhaust system. Once the car is warmed up theres no more water...

I saw a 428 AC Cobra (yes a real one) on start up once in Melbourne. The owner had a drain built around the back so that it would not spoil the ground with all the condensed water!

i dont wana sound "mee too" here but the SAME happens with my Celica's exhaust early morning
i kno in comparison the 1.6 litr is MINISCULE to the might 390 CiD ford V8 but hey...internal combustion!
iva free flow exhaust setup. and theres LOTs of carbon in the exhast so early mornin wen the condensed water flows out, it brings the carbon out wid it.
thats my 2 bits i ges...duno if theres anything ELSE lurking behind that!

its called a "blower"
a hood blower....it forces air in to the combustion chamber through the inlet manifold(its fixed on top of it)..sort of like an air intake..but a certain mechanism makes the appertures in the blower open n close with the amount of revs...the higher the revs ..the more open the inlets of the blower..
its sorta lika supercharger but not....works wonders though:)
is sed to increase horsepower manifold:)

A supercharger when run at such a speed that the boost produced is very low or negligible, is usually called a blower. An example of an application for such a device would be a two stroke diesel engine. (Who says two strokes don't have valves?)

Superchargers are sometimes called blowers as well, because structurally, both are the same.

Superchargers are rated in litres / revolution. The faster you turn a supercharger in relation to an engine, the more air it'll try to pump into the engine, thus more boost.

I'm guessing that if the engine is fed by carburettors, you'll have the carbs under the supercharger.

Mohsin is an expert in restorations so we should listen when he says restoration would not be feasible....

However pigheadedness is something I was born with. I am going to give the TR a go. Buksh put me on the trail again... had grown cold....of a Triumph 2000 saloon ...the one that later changed into the 2.5Pi with two SUs which is going to be the donor car for the drivetrain and the shared suspension

I had seen the car several years ago in a lock up garage in old Anarkali and did make the guy an offer. Car was complete Webasto sunroof and all. Owner died due to renal failure I found out today. People have been sent out to trace it post haste.

The trim bits etc are no issue. The final cost eventually doesnt matter if its is spread over a few months as then it really ( and I am not rich yes really !) disappears into other expenses. My cash flow issues stem from the great sponge the house construction which has soaked up all the spare dosh in the last two years. Thanks be to the Maker that I have been given a two week completion date now. I have refused to furnish the thing. The only bits I am goind to get are the satellte tv and the 52 inch plasmascreen.

All these great Italians available... the 124 spyder the Lancia Beta coupe......

okay so basically all it does is increase the amount of air coming into the cylinder? One thing I dont understand is the relation of boost with air.
The way my thought process is coming along on this subject:
technically when the boost is high, that means the "force" of the air and the amount of air have an inverse relation (formula pressure= force / area). Now in this the cylinder size remains constant (i.e. area) and the "force" would increase with the action of the blower. Hence the pressure at which the air goes inside the cylinder increases. My question is: how does the pressure of the blower increase power? All it's doing is sending air in with higher pressure. It isn't increasing the amount of air in the cylinder (or is it?) If the amount of air would increase, then that would lead to more air being compressed in the compression stroke, which would then lead to a bigger bang in the third stroke.

my car knowledge is very dubious- i know. I rely on O level physics to get me through pakwheels 101

The pressure of the supercharger or turbocharger for that matter gets a larger amount of air hence O2 into the cylinder. As a result more fuel can be provided and thus a greater bang. The inverse is true at higher altitudes and to a lesser extent in hot temperatures.

This is why cars run better early morning in the cold ... denser air means more power

The cycle that I showed is a 2-stroke diesel engine. You can see the cycle from "1" to "4". Remember, in a two stroke cycle, a cycle is completed in one revolution of the crankshaft (two strokes). In a four stroke cycle on the other hand, a cycle is completed in two revolutions.

What model is the Merc in the garage at Afzal Khans house. are you refering to Afzal Khan of Pakistan Oilfields, or is it someone else.

Thank you sir, i consider it an honor to be related to uncle najaf, and that too a close blood relation:)
well, no..afzaal khan(pronounced..afz-aa-l, i.e. the elongated aa sound) is not from Pak oilfields. He's a family friend of najaf(they went to school together) the (one of two) mercs in the pik is a 1967-68 280s if im not wrong.
its been a wyl since i met afzaal sahb(oh about 11 years?)
his other merc is a 66 220s if i remember correctly. both MINT.
he had a corpse of a lancia coupe from the 60's wich he never restored and its lying in his yard(still i think)

Is the Lancia coupe white coloured ?
I had a Lancia Flaminia Pininfarina Coupe AND a Lancia Flaminia Touring convertible in Islamabad in 1982.
The convertible was, and is, a very rare and desireable car. I used the Coupe as a parts car as both had the same running gear and platform on which they were build.
I had abandoned the shell of the Coupe on Peshawar Road, in Pindi where my mechanic, Shabbir had a small workshop, just slightly ahead of Kadir Motors.

Do post some pictures if you can and if it is not this Coupe I can hopefully tell you whose car it was as there were only four Lancia's in Pakistan around the 70's.

I have the picture of Afzal Khan's Lancia. Its a Flaminia Coupe - same shape as yours except thats its a coupe. its blue color. I 'll see if I have it on my lap top and will post it in an hours time.
