Can you give me the exact spec on the car? As for it being worth it or not, it depends on who you ask. Some people would say yes, others would say no. I personally wouldn't shy away from it, if it's a rarer example.
If yours is a garden variety example, it might be better to consider something else more exotic, for example a Rotary Luce coupé, with a proper rotary engine. An RX-3 perhaps? Then again, rotary motors aren't an easy thing to live with especially if you do a bunch of miles.
Agreed about the engineering part, but I'd rather do the same thing on an old single or twin cylinder vintage bike rather than a car, why? Because in a bike, you can easily see and show the work that you did, whereas for a car, it'll be difficult.
