Abandoning a car to a level that it becomes inoperable is really low. Why not sell it off while it's still running? It's a classic "dog in the manger" attitude. Realistically, one can't do too much with people like these, except disgrace them maybe? And it brings a bad name to the human race, not only the hobby. I doubt if he's even a classic car enthusiast. An XK150 rotting in the yard? And he calls himself a collector. Tsk tsk...

As for the Anglia, I suppose the car could make a case for itself as an "acquired taste" classic. Personally, I don't hate any car, each has its own history. But it's true that I'd chose a Cortina or an Escort over an Anglia without a moment's doubt.

Very nice car mashaallah. Very noble of you to pass this automobile on to someone else to enjoy. Please chose the buyer carefully. So that he/she doesn't destroy all the hard work you've put into it. Other than that, good luck for the sale! At 12 lacs, it's a steal I would say. Especially since all the hard work's been done.

I agree with most of the things you have said...'unable to take on', well! nearing 44, priorities are changing. I would rather maintain and enjoy what I have then get into basket case projects unless the car in question makes my juices flow. One car that I have loved all my life is a T series MG (MG K3 Magnette being one of my favourites but out of reach at GBP 200,000 + ). The TR's didnt excite me enough and the purpose of picking them up was to save them from the torch and to keep them as future projects for Ahsan....then I thought that he has enough cars to enjoy so why not let go of these cars and let somebody else take them on. I needed space in the house as well. I am happy to report that the TR6 is being done up very professionally so far...will post pics today as they are in my phone. TR4 still awaits its destiny as without papers it cannot be transported to Lahore....lets see. I have asked the denter who is working on teh TR6 to start on the TR4 once he is done with 6. That way atleast the body will stop rusting further.

@safeershah many congratulations on getting the Challenger.

Yes it was bare metalled for a project by me and it ws started by teh Charsi denter who then changed workshops several times with the car in tow. and then the major project of the house started so rather than the car go to waste I sold it to Omar Mian who I thought was enthusiastic an would get it done. However he also could not so it is nice that it is going to a good home. The 440 engine is completely overhauled. There is also a generator and a few bits lying with my mechanic... will post them if you can send me the address.

The main project has finished and the truncated garage as well but there is a 180 foot driveway. Ikram was telling me about your home Mohsin!!!!!

we had a discussion on 'enthusiasts versus social climbers'. I know one guy, a stock exchange success story (frequently on tv and also a regular on our car shows) went and bought a 1960's Humber Super Snipe. Now this guy knows Imad and can easily pick up one of his cars but didn't have the knowledge or the heart to spend decent money on a classic. This guy fits the bill perfectly.

romano.... I found the car dismantled and abandoned by a roadside....... you cannot imagine the threats, blandishments and the plain time that went into trying to get it going again. The problem is that when a car is cut up a bit he has one by the short and curlies....I agree with teh XK150 and the comments though

the car restored by you i.e. hardtop should have a higher value for you then the soft top which you bought because you restored it ,I bought this challenger not because it was cheap because I like to work on my wheels with mechanics, like I restored my GSX 750 and right now restoring a triumph. but if a person dont have time and have the money then he should go for the complete car.

Javed Ibrahim was restoring a 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood limousine (ex Ayub Khan car) - the last I saw the car was in Phase IV DHA apparently abandoned. Does anyone have any knowledge of that car's current status.

There was another Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine in Lahore, this one also ex-Ayub Khan and a 1958....I posted the pic on this thread many hundred pages ago. Any news on that one?

The 1959 Fleetwood Limousine is in Karachi with one Dr. Shafaqat who was trying to sell it off a few years ago. It came to our show in Dec 2004. I wonder where is that car now.

He came to Lahore starry eyed!!!! did say that the cars were different form the ones that I generally get. The one thing that he did mention was the fact that you must have a very understanding wife.

Having had brush ins ( usually losing ones ) with my bitter half and my less bitter mother...................

I once read a post by someone complaining abuot the colour of your new mustang, and deep down in my heart, i thought the pictures didn't do the car justice.. I was going through some pictures with a friend of mine who was with me at your car show.. We came up with these two pictures of your mustang, and I think the colour is captured perfectly here.. It looks amazing mashallah. What a car

@Safeershah: As much as I love my t-bird hardtop, I cannot maintain this harem of 4 cars I have. I'm happy with my t-bird convt, lincoln and oldsmobile and the price I'm asking for the hardtop is basically the break even point for me.

@Neurosurgeon: I think the correct colors for the Challenger would be Hugger Orange and Lime Green, not 'Slime' Green lol!!!

nope this is not the lowlight version...this morris is original and is supposed to be like this...

it states "Exports to the United States began in 1949 with the headlamps removed from within the grille to be mounted higher on the wings to meet safety regulations. These became standard on all Minors for 1951"

so as this is a 52...its not the lowlight version.
and yea i also like this shape way more then the lowlight.

nice pictures .. I like the shade of red - thats the correct for a 1965 Mustang and is called 'Rangoon Red'. I am personally disappointed with the quality of body work on my Mustang as the sides show some ripples specially the door middle and rear fenders. I am in a fix whether to live with it and enjoy the car or to do it all over again. I am thinking of getting two new door skins and once I have them I will repaint the car.
