Guys I need help

somebody stole the lion mascot on the Peugoet 203's bonnet from my denters workshop. I have searched the net incl. ebay but couldn't find one. If anyone know of a 203 standing somwhere, I could do with a cast of the mascot. I 'll pay reasonable amount for a replacement or a cast.

You could get an aluminium plate, trace an image from the net, then shape it using rifler files and a band sander. Alternatively, if you do go for casting, investment casting is the way to go.

I'd personally go for the hand made route because casting of a thin piece like this would give you a couple of headaches with bubbles and/or sand being trapped in the casting.

[highlight]^^^ Checked on the net, the emblem is nigh-on impossible to make with the files and sander, casting could be the only solution.

Take a photo from the net, cut out a profile in wax, and then detail with small piercing and cutting tools needles, scalpels etc.

Make a female cast over the wax with clay.

Heat the clay to melt the wax and let it drain off.

Melt aluminium and pour it into the clay mold.

That 's the theory, I suppose one would need quite a few tests before you can get anything resemblong the original piece. [/highlight]

thanks - casting is the best solution provided I have a sample to make one from ... if I hav eto make the sample myself than will give it to these wood carving guys...they are pretty good in making such pieces in minutes. Once I have that I 'll give to my casting wala. But it 'll not be the same... I want an original one

The green racing Bentleys are to kill for! I know they were disparigingly called the fastest trucks in the world, but seeing one rapidly gaining on you in the in the rear view must be one of the scariest sights! Would like to see one on track somewhere someday..

Size seems about right for a 3 Litre, but it seems to be a custom job, thus the lack of ideas...

The Bentley is a special, based on a post war 4 1/4 litre or R type chassis. these became very popular in the 70's when the model reached its nadir. The heavy factory fitted steel bodies were removed and lightweight sinle or two seater bodies were mounted with a very low roof line.
These things were pretty fast too, remember they had about 180BHP and tons of torque from the Rolls Royce B series engine, with less then half the weight they were originally planned to haul.

So it's newer than I would've thought. Should've been an interesting drive. Straight-6 and a manual shift should be pretty interesting in a car of that size.

I know that bloody grille.....just can't recall what car it is. Issota also looks quite similar...let me do some googling

A Bentley Special based on a R Type came to Pakistan also with the Peking to Paris rally in 1997. I am not really keen on these cars but love the 4 1/2 litre, Speed Six etc.

amazing observation...that certainly is a Morris Minor's bootlid. Man!! The car has lost all respect now.....no disrespect meant to Morris Minor but a Morris bootlid on a Bentley. The whole rear looks like a cutaway from a Morris. I saw a custom Bentley body on a shortened R Type chassis in Coys and it was awesome....unlike this one.

Mohsin, the blue car is a 1919 Pierce-Arrow, Model 66. It was made to the special design of a very famous silent movie actor.
It has taken first place at Peeble Beach in cat "B"

i think this thread was better of showing and discussing only vintage cars/bikes in pakistan. u guys can always make a thread related to international stuff. i used to enjoy it a lot but now that its been bombarded with international pics it has sort of lost its own flavour. just doesnt mix well. but thts just my opinion.
