^BTW i thought i'd let you know that i'll be fitting the VCCCP sticker on the 1303 soon (now that she has passed her long distance trail). Just have to get the leak sorted out and then i'll stick it on.

Unfortunately the paint was scraped off in the incident....hence i'm not left with the option of any dry denting....

i'm looking for a good denter and painter for the paint matching too.

i've heard of a guy at lalukhet for the chrome. Kashif has gotten the cadillac that he recently restored chromed from him. he said it was hard chrome and the entire chrome work (grille, trims, door handles etc etc) cost him 40k. what do u recommend for a chrome otherwise? i got the bumpers chromed for the last year's show but it hardly lasted 6 months and started peeling off!

chrome is a major issue not only in Pakstan but elsewhere also as ppl are not prepared to pay the right price for the right job thus they start using bad chemicals and mnus out copper plating which is an essential process. Try Kashif's guy....here's a cut & paste from a website

"Hard chrome plating is almost always applied to items that are made of steel, usually hardened steel. It is metallic in appearance but is not particularly reflective or decorative. Hard chrome plating is not a finish that you would want on a wheel or bumper." or try this link

You may contact the same Kareem Ustad for dent / paint job. Whichever car I had for the last 12 years or so went to the same workshop. However none of the them is classic. I only treat my thirst of classics by regularly reading the VCCCP thread at Pakwheels

If you squint really hard, it looks like 2/3rds of a Chrysler 300B / C300.

I've actually seen one on the 'net with a 500+ BHP 2.3 litre B230FT engine. That's a bit too much frankly.

What do you think of the P1800S? Other than the fact that it was driven by "The Saint", it's a very pretty car IMHO. Not very fast though...

@Mohsin: i guess then the guy uses wrong term when he says he's a hard chrome guy. but the results are quite good....only time will tell though if they last.

life chrome depends on how well the base is prepared...nothing to do with how thick it is.

you are right, it looks like a Chrysler. 500 BHP out of a 2.3 litre is amazing. I have never been a great fan of a P1800S. Dont like the styling, specially the rear lights area.

Any comment on the Volvo P1800 estate? Way before the Lancia HPE, and a better design IMHO..

The HPE looks positively blocky as compared to the 1800 estate. The 1800 looks quite like a "shooting brake" or as the French call it, "break de chasse" - nowadays a common term for an estate.

If I remember correctly, alvis was contemplating the purchase of a Fulvia coupé, don't know what became of it. Maybe he can give us a clue?

Ah! I see we disagree on the styling I suppose if they rounded the rear like the Amazon, it would start to look like a bad copy of a Karmann Ghia... Ooh! Another pretty car! I used to see a white / off-white example (meticulous I should say) in Isloo when I was in college. Any idea whose it was? Romano? Storm?

on P1800S, yes we do :). Before Pindiwalas or isloos reply on the K Ghia - I think it was Nasir's car which s now in Karachi with Adil....I posted pics here many moons ago. I like the Karmann Ghia looks on the coupe, not the convertible.
