nothing much to report.....except maybe

Sunday before last....I tried doing a 360 on my Healey and heard a thud sound from the rear and the car stopped moving.....towed the car home and found the rear half shaft broken.

Checked the SC Parts Ltd. UK the retailers for Healey Parts...new one was GBP 680......used one was for GBP 320. I went to Lawrence Road and gave it to a lathe guy who specialises in axles...asked him to make a new one out of a truck axle. When I went to collect...he told me that he found the correct axle for my car from a kabari....Rs.2,500/- and a few hours to put the diff back....Healey is back on the road. Pakistan zindabad.

I've got a soft spot for Airstreams, I'm not sure if the local guys would be able to make the curvaceous aluminium body though. It is, in my eyes a truly timeless design, and is sure to go well with almost any classic.

I think making the body wouldnt be that difficult...what I had in mind was a wooden frame in the required shape and wrapping around aluminium skin over it. Open to ideas....one stupid question? it wouldnt need a differential, would it?

Hope that it would be a great entry in your fleet.
I think it should be lower, but not as much as shown in the pictures given by you & xalman & the front grill should be same as the colour of the body which is looking good in pictures.

I've been good, thanks! Just been busy with work, that's all. How have you been keeping?

Concerning the structure, I'd probably get some inspiration from the Morgan body structure. I think what they do is that they have a steel backbone onto which a wooden structure is attached to take the aluminium panels.

About the differential, you don't need it since you won't be driving the wheels. What you do need is a beam axle of the type found under the rear of a front wheel drive van - for example a Mercedes Panther. You could use a differential, but the problem is the fat middle section which would necessitate a high floor in the caravan.

Minis are so interesting....feel like kicking my own backside for selling mine for Rs.25,000/-4 years ago. One rarely comes across one now. Also missed a Cooper a few years ago...it was advertised and asking price was 150K....owner offered it to me for 100K. I was really tight at that time and let it go.

I bought this Frogeyes in 1981 but gave it back to its owner and bought the Citroen instead....3rd pic shows the car standing near Sohrab Goth some years after I had returned it...now its with a VCCCP member but in a sorry state.

As much as it hurts me to say it, "you can't save 'em all". The only thing one might be able to do is to save the more "interesting" ones. After all they're not a living being, and we can pass judgement on which one deserves to be kept and which one to pass on.

though money extremely tight these days - but counting on my luck to get thos MG TD back very soon.

This pic was taken in 1984...I was restoring this car in the early 90's when some thief stole some body parts from my house. I was heart broken and those were non internet days so parts obtaibability was difficult. I sold it in mid 90's. The car now is in worst condition and has fewer parts than when I sold it. The owner is a great guy and wants the car saved and has offered to carry whatever parts I require for teh car from USA.....keeping my fingers crossed.
