nope, they have a late 60's/early70's firebird, 68 camaro and one more (old age is kicking my @ss), but no 60's mustang.

hashwani has a 65 hardtop in karachi that he recently bought from karachi, a very ripe for resto project. hes imported a stroker for it(correct me if im wrong mohsin bhai)

last time i spoke to his son in law (ayaz lakhani) he was looking for such a car but had no success. last classic the hashwanis themselves bought was an E-type which is also standing with the above mentioned cars.

to confirm though, I will check the stock when i return to ISB.

the khokha at the kabaria.....wud it still b there?
and yes ive had a peek at this car..its the corner house of main boulevard and chaudry pervez ilahi rd....its just standing there getting sad, only started up a couple times a month i think and thats it...looks like a genuine 289..is it auto or manual?wat other specs are there?im sure its a lost cause and he wont even think of parting with it....

one of the Hashwani's who wouldnt want to be named bought a '65 hardtop in Karachi 2-3 years ago. The car had a Toyota Crown engine but he has installed a 5.0 modern Mustang V8. The car has been painted black and is almost ready. The E-type that you mentioned was bought by Hassan Hashwani ( I dont know him) from Salman Zia of Okara Textile Mills.

There's a possibility of a '66 Mustang Hardtop khokha still lying with Omar Amin in Lahore....I am sure a lot of ppl from Lahore would know who I am talking about. He bought it for 25,000/- and will probably still let it go for the same price provided it's still there. Since I have gone public with this info....let Qasim Shah get the first shot.

the pony is driven but not very regularly; at very unearthly hours and man does he drive it!! ...... it is looked after but the level of attention is not at par with our standards. he also owns an MG B mid 1970's, restored and in pristine condition. the mustang's a 289, automatic c4 transmission (3 speed), red dash and door's with black leather. i'm not sure what the donor cars were. i'm pretty sure he wont part with it at all.

the one that was standing at the kabaria's is no longer there, it was moved a long time back, when i gave him the details of the one i mentioned earlier being restored in karachi, he said that he also used to own that one also (one of the two donor cars)

the mustang AA-6677 is hasan javed's car, its on the main boulevard adjacent to the kingson mall, bang opposite hsbc (ahmad mukhtars house). you can see it if you try to take a peak through the gate :p...... this is one of 3 that he possessed. one of them was sent to karachi not too long ago and was being restored, the pictures were on pw. it had a vinyl top, but not in the photograph, only showing the white roof, and the rest of the body was red in color. the second one is in a really dilapidated state (khoka) with his brother in law. this car was a very light yellow before it was painted this color at javed's right before that show ~ 2003-2004. have sat in it a couple of times, pretty quick but doesnt get the tail going crazy. use to heat up the last time i saw it, now the paint has lost its touch, there seems to be a significant amount of filler used and the cracks are now visible.

the other two mustangs were technically donor cars for this particular one and were neglected to say the least to end up the way they did, i remember seeing a red one stacked above another car at one of the kabaria's adjacent to the Gurmani house on the main boulevard coming back from school, i'm pretty sure this was one of the donor cars and later ended up being restored in karachi.

was it Phoenician Yellow or Springtime Yellow?
as far as i know, phoenician yellow was discontinued in 1966 and the only yellow available was springtime yellow. the lighter one was phoenician yellow. Very rare colors both of them as ppl did not order that color too much. he shud hav stuck to the original paint, but sum ppl just donot understand:)

yep it sure was one of those yellows, but i dont know whether it was the factory color or not, havent seen the vin tag with such detail.

A very worthy project, please keep on posting pictures as you progress. Have you fired up the engine and the pumps?
I am attaching a very old picture of a similar fire engine in action, nothing is known about where and when.
