Hassan this is the coupe version i presume..the cosmo had suicide doors in the sedan..which are not present here

Further on I read in an above post , that papers of this paticular car is missing. Being new to restoring cars and yet to find my first project, what is the approach taken by seniors to get papers of older model cars. Is it adviseable to go for such cars without papers.

this is a lincoln cosmoplitan 1949 model its has its windsceen and other parts are available, engine is 8 cylinder and is in running condition.

this car belonged to the nawabs of bahawalpur.

i wonder how many classics Nawab of Bahawalpur had!! Saw a number of gems parked in their palace in Bahawalpur.

Sir i would love to restore this car but the problem is no papers.The owner has died and now the mechanic who owns it doesn't have anything but some "Shitammm" papers.I came to know today that there is a list of disputed vehicles & this car is included in the list.Infact today through a friend i spoke to this guy he was asking above 3 lacs but when it comes to documents he mentions that the engine is in running position.I mean he thinks that he is sitting on some kind of a treasure.

A lot of cars that I buy are without papers at the time I buy them...as long as you are sure that the actual owner is selling that car and its not a stolen vehicle, go for it and get the papers done from excise....you may have to use influence of some kind or make a strong case....my cars that you see at the top of this page didnt have papers....Citroen is still without papers and I hope to be getting them made after almost 3 decades of ownership. Lincoln was phenominally expansive when I bought it so spent a lot of time at the Excise office and got the papers made.....my Mustang had no papers neither did the Healey and the split window beetle. Beetle papers got done last week and the car is in my name....Mustang got done last month after 10 years in my ownership.....Healey is still in the que.

If you like a car - grab it and get the papers done. This black Lincoln you mention is included in the disputed list.....now thats dicey.

Give an ad in the paper saying that you are planning to buy this car and the owner claims that he doesnt have regd papers. If anyomne has any objection to this sale please get in touch with so and so within 7 days of this notice.

Mohsin bhai is absolutely right..these classics are way to prescious to let go .."kiunke registration peshawar ki hai sirr...originial book nahi hai sirr..open letter hai sir"..wat rubbish...they need 2 b saved if u have the dough and can squeeze it into the scheme of things in ur life...mohsin bhai knows i would:)..i do plan 2 go see this gem tomorrw in person..lets hope 4 the best!

If we all jump up calling the guy and going to inspect the vehicle at the same time, the seller won't nudge and stick to his asking price, i.e whatever he is demanding.

Though I would love to get my hands on this ride and take it up as my first restoration project.....but after seeing so many interested members from Islamabad, already making plans to visit the car tomorow, leaves me no option but to step back.

I would say , best of luck guys !!

However if things dong mature , please do refer the car to me, only then I would make a call to the person selling the vehicle.

this is the story of every rusted out dhancha in pk. everone claims the car has some sort of history (usually complete sh*t), just so they can ask more money for it.

bottom line is that regardless of how nice it'd be to restore such a machine most sane people stay away from these cars as the owners are insane when it comes to discussing prices. Even the owners are not able to restore the cars properly and I know they'd do whatever they can to get rid of such jinazas but their greed blinds them.

there are only a handful of cars in PK which meet international "classic" standards (like mohsins lincoln), the rest are piles of old welded together rubble.

sorry, had to get it off my chest as i'm getting sick of the blatant greed of peopel in PK.

i agree and add on to this that the car that everone is mentioning has some serious threat to it

most of you guys wont be thinking of any police case associated with this .... these things were very common within the boys of those 140 wives of nawab when it came to divide the property.......

the issue is that how can they be verified?
and the documents are not at all there ?

only a selling deed and that too NOT from someone from the nawab's family ???

moreover.. as NML posted

there is ALOT ALOT ALOT on the car missing.......... this is a lincoln boys, it has a lot attached to it

and could you mention the risks if this is a disputed car and some police officer turns out at our place ?

U r right bro as Mohsin bro is too,problem with nawab cars is that till yesterday there was a case filed on 23 of nawabs vehicles.A friend of mine who was willing to buy a car he actually went at the residence and deal was finalised but the papers could not be transfered bcs of the stay by Lahore High Court.Now certainly it is a good car but unless one is sure that the seller is original then u can go & buy now this guy MR Kafayat who is mentioned is also not the real owner.The owner is someone who doesnot want to appear & this was told to me by Mr kafayat that he is speaking onbehalf of someone..........another mechanic.I mean that there is alot of confusion created himself by the owner or the car would have been sold long time ago........& the prize is like too much he is final giving it for 3 lacs 50 thousand but in this condition iam not in a position to comment may be Sir Mohsin or Wasif will know how much it will cost us on restoration and is it worth to buy restore & give it then to Customs Dep.............

i also agree to ppl here who say its worth a restore
but like im hearing court/police involvements in the car

i think we should back off as i have an authentic mechanic nearby that told me that once a buyer was threatened and on another occasion he told me that there are eyes on this cars movement.......

why he said that, as there was twice this car was moved off that parking space and he said that there was a chaos and didn't mention more

u must be having good track record on the cars owners/ importers since ages before you bought them, like 15 years of an effort for the VW split window...... u must feel like their family lawyer....... LOL

now this case is different as I have no history and specially we should back off when it comes to nawab's cars as of the disputes and FIRs involved with their assets.....

i would love to acquire some special help from govt. officials and authorities before putting my hands on this one.......... or else i am feeling insecure to acquire it.........

Many moons ago, I posted pics of this Lincoln parked in I&T center G-10/4. This car has been here for the last 20 years and I can tell it for a fact as I also live in the same sector. According to my info, this car was brought to Islamabad by a gentleman who is dead now. His son is also out of Pakistan and hence there is an issue with regard to the papers/ownership otherwise some enthusiast would have restored it earlier. And the current mechanic/denter is asking an unreasonable price (as is the case mostly). Why the car is with the mechanic/denter for so long is that the deceased gentleman wanted to restore it for himself but God had other plans and his son perhaps had no interest in classics.
