Pity the poor TR 6.
Like I told you this car used to belong to some person who had his office in Rex Chambers next to the old Rex Cinema. The car used to be parked on the road and was a dark midnight blue colour. It was immaculate at the time - 1977/8, owner was asking Rs 40,000 but I could not get beyond 35,000 so missed the oppurtunity.

If you are not keen to work on it I just may know of somebody who might be interested.

THIS TRIUMPH TR 6 IS NOW UNDER RESTORATION. WHEN ACQUIRED, IT HAD NO ENGINE, GEAR, SUSPENSION, BRAKES, STEERING, DIFFERENTIAL, WHEELS, DRIVE SHAFT, DASH BOARD, GUAGES, PEDALS, SEATS ETC. IT WAS JUST A SHELL.

HATS OFF TO FAISAL AND AZAM, TWO BROTHERS WHO ARE MY ELECTRICIANS AS WELL FOR RESTORING THIS IMPORTANT CAR THE WAY VERY FEW COULD HAVE ATTEMPTED.

ALL STUFF MISSING AS STATED ABOVE HAS BEEN IMPORTED AND THE CAR IS NEARING COMPLETION OF A 'NUT & BOLT' RESTORATION WITH ABSOLUTELY ORIGINAL TR 6 PARTS. Here are a few current pics of the chassis. Body is dented and primered.

that was my dad, Azhar Mahmoud youre referring to. the car got totalled on drig road around the same time, he tried getting it back on the road but it was never the same so let go of it...

i myself asked Mohsin uncle about the car when i was in karachi last year, but it had exchanged hands already...the resto does look very impressive!

i am not against MUSTANGs and i wont mind one in my garage :P...... even i was after a couple to get them but that would just be a miracle for current conditions

but actually the story of mustangs started in pakis after the movie GONE IN 60 SECS but i think i was in deep love with the REAL MUSCLES before that people started loving the PONYs like hell

i would have to agree with wasif here..it is true that most of the kids these days pretending to know everything under the sun about classics(or lack of it) have been influenced only by movies...
unfortunately this trend only shows immaturity on their part and nothing else.
i remember the 1st time i saw a mustang was in 1989 wen i was about 8 years old and wen most of the kids these days were still only in the thoughts of their parents...
we had gone to visit my mamu in the UK and his neighbor used to own a genuine unmolested 1970 fastback..i did not know wat a fastback was at the time and i remember just sittin in the front porch of his house and oggling the car..it ws acapulco blue and a simple plain jane 302 v-8. he had replaced the 2v carby with a 4v one and had a 3 spd manual(this ws all german to me at the time, all i knew was that the car sounded like nothing i had heard b4 and that this, was IT!) the owner ws sick and tired of his mustang for being heavy on fuel and that no1 ws offering him more than 500 GBP at the time:P yet he explained he just cud NOT give up ths drug of choice...
hehhehe...this has remained seared in my memory..he would only take it out on weekends..i remember the two weekends i ws there...mamu wud request morgan to take us with him....
i have NEVER..ever felt that way about a car..and that is when(over 20 years ago) i started my research on mustangs..the next time i would ride one(and drive 4 the 1st time) wud be in 2009 n that wud b mohsin bhai's 65 conv

i think those of us contributing here should share the part of our childhood wen we actually started loving cars.....it would be a very positive approach to starting things up her again..instead of the new breeze these days of one-upmanship

n yea...the love for cars and bikes runs in my family too..
i was 8 wen i saw a mustang yes..but the interest in cars ws ever since mene "hosh sambhala" as my elder bro and dad have loved cars as well.
my father owned a 1957 ponton from 1962 to 1969, has owned several classic bikes including an ariel square-4, which is now one of the most coveted and sought after bikes, several nortons, truimphs and has owned a harley in the early 50s.
my mamu has owned an MGB in the UK. my other mamu owns a Fiat 124 pininfarina spyder in pakistan apart from having the pleasure of owing several mercs while he ws in the UAE...

A1965, What a small world indeed. I remember him with great fondness, he was a gentelman in the true sense of the word.

I had tea with him in his office on three occassions when we were trying to seal the deal. I could only offer him 35,000 as I was only 22 years old and in my first job, but he had come down from 45,000 to 40,000. We parted as friends even though the deal did not take place.I loved his office too with nice wood panelling and very elegantly done. What a flood of memories it has brought back.

Incidentally, the middleman in the deal was the person who washed the car every day, and his commission was to be Rs 250 from me !!

Hope the TR returns to it's former glory.

it was not meant to be a FEELER for u........ it was just my impromtu expression

as i thought everyone loved some super car as in the childhood, the games we play had the best car as a mc Laren F1, or a ferrari ...........

and at that time we never saw one and maybe u were lucky to see the E TYPE quite often around you in your childhood.......

Very nice photos! Thanks for sharing these. I've got a bunch of photos back home, from the days of my father's stay in Malaysia. They're probably more interesting for the locations though, not the cars themselves. Series II and III LR 88s and 109s, Hillman Minx, Toyota 1000 and a '78 Sigma GS. I'll have to fish them out next time I'm in Pakistan.

Where are these two cars now? Are they still on the road?
