been waiting for the summer vacations. the dash has been done and so has the upholstery ... the seats etc but the fitting needs to be done yet. the 1750 has been taking time. got the front valance for the car........complete 450 pounds from the UK plus courier and duty... cost me over a 115k local ...and stupidly left it to the denter. who promptly thought I wanted to make a corona 67 and welded it in wrong....the car looked like Jaws in the 007 Roger Moore movies and I almost cried ..... He got hell of course and is sorting it out... pics u[p soon... Summer vacations starting on 16th.

Yaserag you are acute... lotus 7 replica it is.. plans obtained and manuals. You know that teh cost of the steel for the spaceframe Chassis..... all 1210 inches of in square tubing is only 8500 Rs. let me make this and I promise you I will have an assembly line of the things ready for friends. Some thought is going into the selection for the rear diff... probably a Mark2 Grande rear bits... still thinking... I want independent rear suspension ...see.

spot the most valuable car here. its certainly not the BMW...

the ford capri is the 1700V4 which was in for repairs after a minor prang... apologies to the owner... pics put up without permission.

the front of the 1750 has been corrected... thats more like it....you can spot the new panels and i have even obtained the aluminium front and rearwheel arch liners

the 2600 spider rear lights were sent for buffing... Sods law the chrome was burnt off and these cannot be rechromed. so new light bases were made with laser CNC cutting machines and rechromed. the bumpers were also redone and have been rechromed. this is the main delay. it has to be perfect... like the 1750....no more amateurish restos...

i had a 1600GT 1973 in medical college.... gave me no end of trouble... but that was probably the mechanic... youve seen his pics in the thread.......... with reza seyal.. i remember the copper oil pressure line giving way with a bang and spewing oil all over the medical college car park....plus a leaking sunroof which no one in lahore could settle...and whenever i used to stop the car after a wssh or the rain water would slosh over my head... now i know it was just blocked off drainage pipes.

@neuro, the alfa touring spider is just out of this world.... i want a ride in it once its done...the miata engine and running gear are a very popular choice for 7 replicas...btw i started mine a while ago...havent gotten round to finishing it as i stubmled onto some bad mechanics/fabricators....had a great guy back home but things have come to a standstill since i moved to lahore... id love to compare notes and gain access to your "mistri"...how about a side by side build?

will be posting up pics of the parts i have managed to get for the alfa 1750... seriously the most painful part was paying 250 pounds each approximately for the rear lights which the previous owner... i hope it was before you @seaking...had replaced with suzuki cultus items.

you can also see the light stalk which aslo set me back a pretty penny.. so I thought why not an electronic dizzy as well 123 ignition type with adjustable advance curves...

And to top it all my favourite saloon car. To all the friends on the forum what is yours...I would love to have a 350 sel 6.3 and if not juts a 350sel V8. This is Asims car.. lucky bu**er

This has to be the most exciting picture i have seen in a while, and i just witnessed the Canadian Grand Prix up close and personal.

My answer for the most valuable car is the 2600c Spider, i cannot believe i haven't had a ride in it yet, and can't wait to go stalk it at the workshop. Love the part where CNC laser cutting is being used, this is the type of restoration process i yearn for.

My family has already issued warning that i am to spend more time at home this summer instead of running after cars but i can now see that might not be too easy. Keen to see the result of the Mini modifications, suspension will be tricky and the most important part. So far i have not experienced a single modified mini with a suspension better than the original setup. So you have me all ears and eyes on this one Doc. I also noticed a different guy in the mini picture, Ikram has been replaced?

Nice to see the Minis getting some air, also makes me excited to take mine out for a spin once i get back, how about a slightly long drive in the classics, perhaps topped off with some tea at the end. A weekend would be ideal, maybe get the family along too, what do you say?

No This was Ikrams Chota....i think what needs to be sorted is the spring and damper rates... that in turn depends on the sprung weight over the axle and the unsprung weight of the car eg the weight of the wheels... discs and other components.

lets see... will initially be a rolling test bed... by the way the engine is in the car and the suports for the mounts are going to be constructed over the next couple of days.... .its good when at least one does not have to worry about the sheet metal such as in the inner wheel arches... teh bulkhead etc. and can cut it with impunity... now if it were not a chakra i would want it to be a proper 1275 cooper S

Ive had such a rusted engine once, it was from a boat, heavy usage of Acetone mixed with ATF, huge fans and breathing apparatus will set rust free. Removal of fans and gas masks from the equation may land you in the ICU of a hospital..

Then mollases will work also, the water trick in the bores is neat but you have galvanic corrossion there due to dissimilar metals, remove the water and fill with vinegar/water mix - I used the vinegar trick on old E type jag front suspension to free up the LCA bolts. Worked like a charm.

I had a 74 GT too that I bought at a customs auction in Peshawar. (Studied at the univ.) The car had two bullet holes in the trunk supposedly fired by customs guys during the chase. Two tyres were blown as well. After paying for the car and registration I could only afford two used tyres from Shoba Bazar and about 100 rupees of petrol (which was about 25 or so litres in those days) ...
When you say that water sloshed on you after a car wash or rain, it reminded me that a friend and I would roll up the windows in June /July heat when going past Khyber Medical college to give the impression that the car was air conditioned!!! while we were drenched in our own sweat....The car was a chick magnet and boy!!! do I have stories to tell!!!
