n btw... i noticed 1 thing about GORA PEOPLE ( Specially Americans & British ) ...
those who wanna Modify or Restore their cars ... they do it mostly by themselves, not like us, give it to some mechanics or stuff ... i have a few friends who do all the work by hand on their own cars... from A-Z by themselves... they'd spend months on building a car, working on it on weekends ...
heck, they even Fix their cars themselves.

Mechanics dont have that " FEELING " that YOU have for your car... he just wanna finish the job n get his money... he doesn't care about ur car... he just wants MONEY ...

I agree that mechanic can never work with those feelings which an owner of a car can while working on his ride with his own hands...

I think the main reason why they GORA PEOPLE (Specially Americans & British) work on their cars by their own hand and follow the term of 'D.I.Y' is that most of them all are free from the tension of (Roti, Kapra or Makan) so they don't have to get worry about those basic needs of life which are still main problems of our common people,, that's why they easily perform their jobs themselves in each & every part of life.

Im trying to find a nice 2 Door Coupe Classic as PROJECT CAR for restoration.
If someone have any nice suitable car or knows someone whose selling... Please let me know... any help is appreciated as im new to all this, but InshaAllah, Hopefully, with all the help of you brothers i might be able to pull it off....

Im looking for a car which has Following:

- American Make
- 2 Door, Sports
- Bigger in size, specially from Inside (this is very important for me, cuz of my height & built)
- Authentic Muscle Car would be preferred
- maybe Mustang or Firebird or turino or charger or challenger ... something like that is better...

Im a regular reader here & I see that you guys have more experience then me, so please suggest some nice cars for me to start with... I intend to Restore a car as for my Daily Drive.

Im looking for Rusted Metal for beginning, Only Body (chassis etc) is important for me & offcourse the documents stuff... i dont need it with parts & so... just the REGISTERED Body ...

You have not mentioned your location in your profile. If you are in Islamabad, visit the mechanic on the Major Road connecting F-10 and F-11 who "restores" American cars. Spotted a Cougar there sometime back. Maybe he can hook you up with something, It is a long shot.

about ROTI KAPRA MAKAN thing relating to WORKING BY HAND ... i dont think that relates well...
I've worked with some AUTOMOTIVE Companies here in Saudi Arabia, as my profession was Industrial (Automotive) Designer... ranging from Body Modifications of cars to Extreme Fast & Furious kinda Modifications... Built Military Tanks, Armored Vehicles, Mobile Homes, Ambulances, Security Vehicles, Special Utility Vehicles .... Worked on JET Planes... driven Ferraris, Lambo, Bentley, RR... u name it... n list goes on...
and I've worked with Pakistani People, Indians, Arabs, Americans, Germans, Italians... list goes on...
and people ranging from the level of Corporate Businessmen, Generals to a Gate Keeper ...

I remember there was a time in my life when my business was at extreme Luck & I really had GOOD AMOUNT of Money... and i Built 5 Vehicles of my Own, by myself... i was 19YO at the time ...
and then i remember after a couple of years my business came crashing down & my life went down below 0... and i had no car... was really harsh time... and then I bought an OLD GMC Suburban 83 ... i had no Garage or place to work on it and i parked it outside my house in the street & started working on it in the evenings ... and it took me 2 months to get it to life...

Last year I got a Project with a small firm of 2 partners... an Italian & an American guy ... they offered me a place to work on their project... which I initially rejected...reason being it was not so "CLEAN" ... I told em to get someone ... some Labor guys... n get it cleaned up & Painted etc ... and their response was like " why need Labor... we'll do it ourselves... come join us on weekend " and i was like ...
So i went their on weekend and i saw both those " COMPANY OWNER guys " working their, cleaning up & painting etc along with their KIDS ... haha ... and I joined them ... we had a BBQ later that evening at same place ...

We think doing things by ourself is " Faltoo ki tension " or " fateek pe gai yar " or " dafa karo yar bahar se kara lo kisi se " ... meanwhile they turn this " Faltoo ki tension " into " FUN " ... We find 100 Excuses to SKIP the job at hand (jise hath se karna pare) and they find Excuses to tuen that Job into FUN and GET IT DONE ...

And I know their ARE people among us also... of such nature... as Abbasi Sab mentioned Earlier ... but still ...

I hear alot, this problem in Pak, Roti Kapra Makan... remember... zaroorat ijad ki ma he... why wait make one for urself... solve problems instead of crying over it...

That OK no worries, Will you be coming to Pakistan for good? or just visiting. It is true that here price/cost is the driver for how we do things. The richest people just go buy the most expensive machinery. Most of car mods/projets are done by the middle class. Money availability is not infinite. So we do the best we can.

He is asking Rs 1.5 crore for an Austin 7 Ruby. A fully restored Ruby is for GBP 6000 - 10,000 depending on condition an rarity (about Rs 10lacs - 16.5lacs). An example as this one needing full restoration sells for about GBP 1000 (about Rs 1 lac 70 thousand). Good luck to him finding a buyer.
