Vitz 2004 digital speedometer glass got whiteish

Dear PakWheelers,

I have Vitz 2004 and today I observed a very strange thing. The car was standing on road side where it was getting direct sunlight and as today it is very hot in Lahore and when I open the door of the car, cabin was very hot just like it was burning. Anyway I sat and when I looked at digital speedometer strangely its glass was looking very whitish and as a result nothing could be seen in the meter - it was just looking very foggy so I tried to wipe it with a cloth but it was totally dry so wiping didn't has any affect. Luckily I was having luster cloth in dash and I tried to clean the meter with luster cloth and it made it much clearer upto 80-90% by removing the whiteness. I just want to know why it got whitish and even after cleaning with luster cloth it is not 100% clear. What should I do to make it totally clear and how can I avoid this in future?

I believe it is genuine digital meter. Is the front made of glass or plastic?

use armorall dash protectant on monthly basis to avoid this, the plastic is drying out

"armorall dash protectant" is it available easily in Lahore?

I tried to clean the meter with a piece of cotton lubricated in hair oil and it made it much better. It proves the plastic is drying out

don't use luster and oil type of things... it will put you in a dusty havoc.

there is no rocket science ur plastic glass has dried up. use "stp sun of a gun" or "armorall protectant" to avoid this. Both are easily availible at car decoration and accessories shops.

Thanks for the guidance. I will use "armor all" or "stp sun of a gun" for avoiding drying up the plastic but as they are actually plastic protectants and not the cleaners so what should I use to clean the plastic face of the speedometer as it needs to be very cleaned and transparent to avoid any confusion while driving?

^^ I polished my Dashboard with 7CT as a result, metre glass got some visible spot.. I Washed it but no effect.. then finally go to one clock wala and request him to buff this Glass.. he charged 80rs... and now metre is clean.. like new mA

i say armorall again, it contains so much oil that it easily masks such defects, if it doesnt fix the spots then get the plastic buffed and then maintain the finish with armorall

What ever u do never spray any polsih on meter glass, it when exposed to sun light will leave irreversible spots on ur glass. Learnt the lesson from my own experience

Then what about "Amorall Dash Protectant" because I got multiple recommendations to use it to avoid speedo glass drying out.

this happens only when your car meter is opened and its glass aka sheesha is buffed this is almost done in every jdm car becuz of Odo meter tempering i also faced same problem and ended changing the glass of the meter

but even if meter is tampered then what relationship it has with the speedo glass drying out if car is exposed to direct sunlight in summer?

Basically all these profudcts are desogned for and in western countries where the weather is not extreme, so the chemical in any polish when reacts with extreme sunlight leave it marks on plastic.
