Vitz 2005, Automatic / CVT transmission question

Can't tell u about dipstick of city. Cuz don't know it. According to honda people, filter of it never needs to be changed unless u accidently put dirty oil in it. And if u want to change, it wud take 1n a half days and Rs. 7000/- cost from local mechanic. 15000/- by honda

Damn thats a very high cost, I might be able to get it done in rupees 500 since I just had the cherokee's filter / atf flush done. All for like 500 labour and 400 for the petrol used to clean the ATF filter. But, I knew what I was doing there so wasn't a problem.

And about that filter thing, it has to been changed, after like 150K+ kilometers, the metal bits from the transmission have to tear off with usage and they end up either in the oil pan (where there is a magnet to catch and hold them) or the ATF filter. When the ATF filter gets clogged, it won't let the pressure regulate and there would be no power going to your tyres.

First off, Naweed: You said original oil was giving better performance and you must be VERY right because you put in the wrong oil for the transmission. Toyota has been using ATF-World Standard in their auto cars since 2005.. and the 2005+ vitz is no exception. That oil doesn't need to replaced or changed.. 1st INSPECTION in the manual is at 160,000 Kilometers. and that too is inspection only.
However if you want to change and can FIND ATF-WS here, change it every 100K Kilometers or so just for kicks.

So everyone out there, with a Vitz 2005 or later, you don't need to change your transmission oil.. and if you want to, use ONLY the ATF-WS (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID - WORLD STANDARD).

2005 Onward Toyota Vitz comes wid CVT in 1.0 and 1.3. Whereas 1.5 comes wid a ECTi 4 speed Auto.

Sir use the Toyota TC oil for CVT (in teen daba packing) available at Makro & Metro Stores and wholesale importers.

All new shape Vitz with 1.0L 3 cylinder have a CVT.

vitz has a cvti but it gives patathic pick and performance otherwise previous 4speed at vitz was having very nice acceleration

guys i have been planning to change the cvt oil but im still a bit confused bout where to fill the cvt oil i read it in some othe rpost on pakwheels that the nut with TC written on it is the right place where it is to b filled and then again in nother post said the TC port is not the right port to fill the oil
plz help???

to change cvt oil you need to drain the old one first .. go to toyota motors any mechanic who hasn't change vitz gear oil will not understand how to do it .. plus the fact that its oil type is critical .. wrong type of oil can put you in trouble

how much cvt oil needs to bev put in, after complete drainage from bolt n opening of assembly. my friend got his transmission oil chamber removed, ~ 6 litres of oil was removed. toyota cvt box comes in 4 lt packing

it is given in the manual .. every car has different quantity plus the same oil is available in 1 litre cans as well

change CVT fluid every 40K in Pakistan - CVT generates a ton of heat when working. Its pretty easy - remove drain plug, remove piece from inside plug, drain and refill.

The drain plug is both check and drain port on this transmission.

@xulfiqar bro and what's in the case of normal AT (non CVT) ? I heard it doesn't need to be changed, and OEM recommendation for inspection is 1,60,000km

I dont know where you heard that - but that way failure is guaranteed in half that life. - If Toyota recommend only inspection at 160,000 kms - ask them of any case of warranty replacement at that mileage. Toyota recommend change at every 100,000 kms and half of that in severe duty which means city driving.

firstly its a european zone document, get an asia/africa document and I see 80K for severe and also 48 months (this is regardless of mileage)

The tropical zone document will show it even lower.

I will find one.

What I know about CVT is that you don't feel the gears changing, but i clearly feel & see them changing (thanks to the rpm meter) when I am cruising or steadily increasing speed. How do I verify its CVT or simple AT transmission? The gear lever pattern is PRNDSB whixh seems to me like a CVT. I have a VItz 2009 U Package with chasis model KSP90.
