Vitz 2011: Safe to switch between N and D while the car is moving

ASA Everyone.

I have a Vitz 2011, and I've been playing with its transmission while the car is moving.

I notice that when going down a flyover, or when going down a road when I switch from the D gear to the N gear the live fuel average increases considerably when compared to keeping the car in D. And also the car moves more freely and I don't feel the engine braking. And when the car slows down to around 40 kmph, I switch back into D and drive the car forward.

My question is, does this negatively affect the transmission life of my car? How is this mechanism working so smoothly? Does the Vitz 2011 transmission have a clutch or not? When is this clutch engaged or disengaged.

I would really like to learn more about the mechanism and todos and not todos.

Please never do it. It can be ruin the transmission.
The clutch of automatic vehicles is connected with brake pedal fyr.

Driving down hill or down slop, its very important for a vehicle to stay connected with its gear. Hence you should never shift to N and keep driving on D.

When JDMs are being driven down hill, their fuel consumptions already goes to minimum. So you don't have to worry about that.
But what you are doing (shifting D to N & back N to D while driving) can be super dangerous for Transmission for sure.

your car has a K4xx series CVT - doing the shift to N again and again while driving, will play a number on your transmission unit itself.

Google the internal diagram of how it works, it doesnt have a standard clutch or gearset like you are imagining it to have.

Thanks allot Xulfi. I am curious, I couldn't find any diagrams, from the feel of driving I also felt like it doesn't have a clutch engage/disengage mechanism.

I google K4xx CVT but couldn't find anything that gives information on the internals. I would really appreciate if you can share any links.
