hows ure experience with khalid ustaad? i never went to his workshop. theres this mechanic Saleem in lahore he is quite experienced with his work and has a big workshop..i was thinking of taking my bug to him...he says he has good engine blocks, the ones with 4.5 litre oil capacity.

what is the source of engine blocks in isb/pindi? papu?

and one more thing.. do u order on these website to have parts delivered here?

khalid is the best VW mechanic (nowdays) in pindi and isb, he's almost always given me excelelnt service. only time i've ever had poor service is when he is stressed out but i don't blame him as he usually tells me to come some other time so that he can give my cars full attention.

Have not heard of saleem but if he is the same one who fedd uses then he is also very good (probably lahores best).

i know that most type 1 engines have a capacity of 5.3 US Pints (2.5 Litres) so this info could be interesting.

Well here's my friends beetle, it had a 1500 engine but was later swapped with a 1200 cc engine according to my friend and its a vw engine. Thats all i know....

that is a great looking car, seems very original and unmolested. from the looks of it is has had the front right fender repaired some time ago but other than that it seems pretty clean. would love to know more about it. yes the 1200cc engine was offered by VW but it's only good on petrol on gas it is a bit of a dog to get the car moving.

Why would ANYONE in their right mind swap a 1500 for any other engine? It was the best bug engine ever. Can imagine the poor 36hp 1200 pushing that heavier 1300/1500 Deluxe body.

false economy, people don't realize that the 1500 would have had to work less hard to push it along, the temptaion to run a smaller engine must have made them make the swap,.. or possible a greedy mechanic.

no doubt the 1500 "H" engione is one of the best Type 1 engines ever made.

i myself dont know about these engines..just heard that mechanic saying that he has engines with oil capacity of 4.5 litres, i mentioned it because i thought may be you guys knew about it and would shed some light on it.
ill ask him again if i meet him when i go to lahore.

it's possible that the mechanic wanted the engine,... still it's never too late to swap back an "H" engine into her so i'd say he enjoy the 1200 till it dies and then go back to a 1500.

this is my first post on Pak wheels.i am the proud owner of a 1974 VowlksWagon beetle(1200cc)

and i beg to differ to Storm on what he said abt the 1200 engine being lazy/slow on gas-my engine is a lil weak now.....the oil gets less frequently and seldomly emits gray smoke but it still has amzing consumptiion and has amazing peformance on gas-u obviously cant compare its performance to when running on petrol-but yeh its still pretty impressive!

the picsi added earlier,were taken the day my elder bro gifted me the car on my grades-that was abt a month back-since then i have made a few modifications to my ride-but it has never let me down!!!!i would be very grateful if someone could tell me where i can buy/get the rear spoiler which recently broke after my brother sat on it!ino very hard to believe!!!i myself cudntbel so and dint tok to him for a few days as i was pretty enraged abt the incident!i am also looking for a spare side window for the driver s side door-it was never there from before and i can only blame the previous stupid owner for perhaps breaking it off-owing to that i dont take it to many places.....ohh and i am also looking for the ignition switch because mine got spoilt recently and am temporarily using a local replacement--but am really missing starting my car with the original VW key that came along with my ride when my bro bought it for me......sooooooo i would really appreciate any help you gys can give me!it wud really be a great help because the ppl who ive asked soo far have hardly provided any solid advice or help-so anything from u guys wud be pretty amazing!
