i can't think of any car off the top of my head at the moment, but maybe the other members might know of a car. my advice is to search the used car section and see if there is anything there as well.

do contact your local VW workshops as they might be able to help you more. there is a member in LHR (WP ID is FEDD) who might be able to help you more.

I finally got a bug but there is one problem the man who has the bug is not the owner but his bro and he is in canada and he also not have CNIC Card and it is not possible to transfer the bug into my name without the owners CNIC Card. now what can i do?

i think asad meant that he was willing to help you guys out if you needed anything sourced or some info for the resoration of your car as he is also going through the process and is VERY helpful when it comes to info of these cars.

  Wanted to ask you discreetly (so as to give you first priority) but now let me announce that I have the last known limited stock of pre 66 body trims in Karachi. :D I do NOT have complete sets but a few of some of the trims. These are not German but are decent.

Thanks...please do let me know of any pre 64 Bug (esp ragtops :)) that shows up at Shershah, plus of course any other kind of VW - esp Ghias, Split Buses, pretty much any other oddity you come across. Just call me. Cash can be sent the following day for a good one, and the massacre can be stopped! Honestly, if I had a massive parking lot/unlimited resources, I'd stop scrapping all VWs, period. Not nice, but then again...where are we to get our parts for 'our' beloved cars from then?

   Today I got to know of a nice 66 on death row. Reportedly it is complete with most parts on it, even the paint is decent. Would need a battery and some TLC to make it run. 

  Please let me know asap of your interest. I plan to go see the car tomorrow, come rain or sunshine. I have a feeling it is something decent and worth saving. 

   Pre 64 bugs are super rare now. A few years ago they were the ones mostly being scrapped at Shershah. I dont think you should even wish for a ragtop as they are practically non existent here. Only 5 are known, including your missing one. Maybe the whole Karachi population stands at 10?

  Ghias ending up at shershah??? I dont think so. If I see one I wont let it go!! Split buses would be rescued at first sight. I already have some people with them on their wishlist. Plus an investor who is ready to buy any number of split buses.

  The saddest part about the scrapping business here is that many of the things end up going to the melting pot as there are not many customers for old model parts. And there are some scrappers who destroy the whole car, be the parts on them like brand new :'( Have seen whole running clean engines being 'dismantled' using nothing but a sledge hammer :o

A bug for having a bug is bugging me again.

A friend is having a 1303S and is interested in selling it. Havent seen the bug as it is in Sadiqabad. What kind of probelms can be faced during resto.

Per him, it is good.

Advice needed from all the buggers..........

Bumper had a nasty dent, got it fixed but the chrome is all messed up/chipped thats why have the red tape. I think it looks okay.

Why dont you put something a bit more inconspicious instead of the red tape??? Silver duct tape can be located easily. Or maybe paint the little patch silver???

Im sure there is a legal way around your hitch. You may go and ask the local motor vehicle reg dept in Lahore and find out the procedures.

I guess the owner's current ID card's copy (be it from Canada/NADRA overseas ID card etc), a copy of his last Pakistani ID card and a letter from him saying that he is selling the car should be sufficient. You may send him a scanned copy of a transfer letter/sale deed for him to sign and post back by snail mail/courier.

do you have a copy of some ID of his? perhaps you can get it transfered like that. alot of people don't transfer cars but i think its alot safer to get it done otherwise if you get stopped by the cops for checking or something you could have issues. try checking with the registratino office if they have a copy of something like that of his ID card or push the seller to get a copy so that you may transfer the car (even if you dont do it).
