It was a pleasure to have met you earlier today; it was not a pleasure to have met that stupid mechanic who's holding that poor old Thing (or what's left of it) hostage. Let's see if he comes to his senses by Sunday, but I doubt it. He's mad, as are (sadly) most owners of rare and abandoned VWs in PK.

This may be it...seller claims it's a 64, but I've seen the car in F-8 markaz several times and I know it's a 67. Old PSH plates. Good luck.

Nice to see the 61 coming along well and getting the justice it deserves. There was obviously quite a lot of metalwork to be done...I can see you're replacing the entire lower chunk of one rear quarter panel, and it's good to see the the bodyshell sills looking how they should be, with the correct heater outlet vents. Some really intricate work - hat's off!

The new hood does, however, seem to be a slightly later (post 63-) hood with no holes for the Wolfsburg badge and a longer trim, right?

Thanks! I'm glad you like the work :).

You must also have a look at the floor pan now as the steering box '61 type', gear box and rear shocks are replaced with the other things that needed consideration.. let's go and have a look tomorrow?

You are right about the hood, I just noticed 3 pin VW emblem on a plinth (raised circle).. earlier I thought it's just the wrong trim someone got on it but I guess it doesn't make a difference as the holes will be done later and trim also will be replaced with the pre 63 one??

and i was pleased to be your host for the evening, and for that mechanic well what i can say but that guy was really off the track, apparently as he has burnt someone else thing now it was upto him to make up the losses, may be thats why he wants time to tie up with the owner or what eva. on sunday early in the day i'll be at rawalpindi and and hopefully will get back to you at around 1500HRS inshAllah regarding the thing.

And thats her Aleem bhai, in first pic two young boys standing beside her are the owners, boy on left is Waleed and forgot the other guy's name, but why its been called 64, few days back a link here at VWCOP was posted someting like beetle through the ages, and from there i verified its chasis number and it was from 67, as i was always in doubt of her as 66 or 67, any how great to see her once again, and thanks to you bringing smile to my face.

Its sad to note that you are compelled to park up the cars but you know what you are going thru, so cant say much.

I would however like to recommend that you keep both vehicles in running order and take them out for a spin at least once every weekend or two at the most.....this would help prevent the various issues parked up cars tend to develop...

i'm planning on loaning them both out to romano so that he can keep them running, they'll be sharing garage space with his van so he can access them at any time.

this weekend i really wanted to finish the 1303 project but i just didn't have the time. all it needs is one big push now as all the parts for it are here. same with the 182.

I can't believe it... but...

there seems to be an early model VW K-70 for sale in Lahore in the classified section, in pretty horrible condition. This has to be a find of a lifetime! Not sure about the price though...but it is a very, very rare beast
