I like the idea of the two year'd VW rally but I am all against Pakistan's ONLY known split window beetle to be taken to such errand. It should rather be saved than to be put to test in such extreme endurance for the purpose of preserving her for future generations to follow. Just my two cents worth.

May be @mohsinikram could participate in any of such rallys with his "Splitta" 11 window Kombi instead but then that too is the earliest alive type 2 in Pakistan?

agreed!! she needs to be taken care of to make sure she lasts...but then again...not all are as crazy as we were...im sure Babusar is a bit rough for any bug...we can stick to asphalt or if need be minor dirt tracks and not go for proper off roading...hunza...khunjrab maybe...or other spots with cleaner roads...

hats off to you Rebel...what a journey it must have been....while looking at the pictures, I was almost day dreaming that I am in my split window beetle and on those roads with my favorite surahs on cd particularly surah rehman :). It was certainly a legemdry journey and we must make it a 'once in two years' beetle rally

I plan to organize a VW endurance rally when there. Details closer to date Inshallah. It would be to Shindoor festival in July, starting from Islamabad, up to Chitral via the Lowari pass, Shindoor for the polo festival, then on to Gopi's, Yasin, Phunder and turning up in Gilgit then taking the KKH back to Islamabad via Besham, Mansehra, Abbottabad.....

Only the best would complete the grilling drive.

you got to be ready to take a short boat ride along with your bug if you want to get to khunjerab. There is no road link as a part of the KKH is under water due to a lake formation resulting due to a massive landslide.

I like to use my cars...not a concourse 'd elegance man. Cars will survive better if they are used regularly and believe me, they are just machines and should be used as such....would love to take shots of the beautiful mountains from inside the car through the rear split windows... :)..confirm my entry in my splitty...inshallah!

The roof is super clean with zero rust and has the Sundial camper awning attachment hooks.

the sheet metal after the camper cabinetry was removed came out super clean and rust free.
