A good used piece could be bought off the Samba for USD 35-55. But its the carriage/clearance of the same that would be the major add-up factor towards the cost.

Gone are days when we used to drop a mail to @nmshaikh and he would buy us the part we wanted in the best bargain price...and later send it through his family/friends at NO additional cost to go on our hobby cars

Btw, all thing owners should know. The tail lift housing from a type 3 will fit the thing.

all Thing owners should know that the mounting stud can snap easily so before you try fitting it on the car get the old paint and rust off.:-#

Please make sure you only use 90 weight oil in your beetle/thing/bus/karmann gearbox & steering box. Anything else will ruin them!

But tell you what, the best would be to request Javed Ibrahim sb. to fabricate a prototype out of fibre and see how it comes through. May be @shahzebulhaq could help us a little with that job

Heyy guys!! Does some one have a blank key lying around? i lost my key and need a blank one so i can get it set to my lock. I checked but apparently the 1969 key, (the thin narrow one) is not a shape found in the market anywhere. cant find a blank anywhere even without a VW logo let alone a period correct one...

Hey Everyone!! does any one have any spare seats along with mounting brackets in their stash... The seat in my 62 were welded to the floor with a metal plate in place rather than a mounting bracket...

Talk to @shakeel at Mouqeem Auto Stores. I hope he has something in stock even if its not the "period correct" one. Else you can always find anyother "period correct" key and get your ignition re-keyed according to the key you would be having.

i was hoping a member would have a secret stash someplace...but ah well...seems like il have to get one from the legendary pappu...

ask a Karachi member to go ask the oldschool locksmiths near Plaza or the one locksmith sitting on the roundabout near Kaybee snacks - Ive seen some pretty weird keys with them. Or best would be get a key from ebay
